:-\ :-\Sorry to have to tell you all this bad news but BudgieBurgers will not be on the Menu at Saturdays UnChristmas party.Owing to the Empty Aviary syndrome and severe lack of birds at the moment. However i am   having discussions with NP and Nick re the providing of Finch Kebabs(NP) and Minced Mouse Pies(Nick)so hope these more than make up for the disappointment some of you must feel as i know AVa  for one will be most upset.

Hi BB iv'e got a couple of alligators, a few ostrich legs, buffalo by the dozen and some sharks (don't ask where i got them from), so if you want these just say and i'll kick up the barbie as they take a few days to cook  ;D ;D ;D .

Peter

Actually Pete, have eaten all the above and they are delish! Ostrich is my fave though, marinated in hoisin sauce ;D Best to soak the shark in vinegar overnight, it apparently improves the taste. (masks the taste more like! :P)
Mouse Pies sound good, Finch kebabs Yum! I can offer slug hors d'oeuvres,(thinly sliced and sauteed in a light garlic, white wine and cream sauce) or escargots!

S'Ok Budgie I have gone off the burgers.  Didnt like to offend you but I had a beak in last one. Other half has got a magpie and squirrel that he bagged yesterday if you fancy a 'gamey pie' :-\

Carol

Well, we were out in the lovely weather this afternoon and managed to bag a haggis on the side of the Eildon Hills.  You do know their legs are short at the one side to run round the mountains. ::)  So, there we have it a newly shot Haggis so it should be yummy.  To go withthe Haggis you have got to have Stovies and neeps.  I will start preparing the Haggis tonight so that it is just right for Sat. night. This should go well with Wickers Clapshot.  Must admit I have never tasted it, always a first time.  Also got some Selkirk Bannock dripping in lovely butter.  What you think Mimi, as good as profiteroles eh? :P

well said BB can't beat the yorkshire puds :)

Carol

Yes please BB.  I fancy Yorkshire Pudding more than Haggis actually, but thought I would give you all a chance to taste this delicacy, especially as we caught it ourselves.  You cannot beat a bit of Yorky with Roast Beef.  I think that is my favourite food actually.

Yumyum

TrailRat

Hi BB yep them moors do have some strange beasts on them (specially me  ;D ;D ) so now i know how to do the shark, what about the ostrich legs do you cook them by the pound or by the day  ??? and has anyone got some BIG plates to put them on, Doris i think i need your help here. I forgot to say the buffalo are the water type so i'm off to see Delia and see how she cooks them  ;D . The alligators were getting a bit 'snappy' but they are now marinating in marrow rum  ;)  and if anyone needs some new shoes or a good belt? well just say the size and i'll start on them right away. I've also got some crazy necklaces with teeth and horns on them but these are only for the real 'hippies' amongst you    ;) ;) ;).

Well back to the barbie to check on those sharks

oooh, can hardly wait - all those delicacies.  Well shot Carol the clapshot will go lovely with that haggis.  Can hardly wait to try the jellied eels ( :-\) and BB I think that some "croppin' heids" will just be that wee bit different with your luverly Yorkshire pud - what are you going to use for gravy tho that can make or break the meal you know?  And we could maybe have some scorrie eggs (pickled even) on the snacks table?

Peter read in the local paper that analligator was found in the boot of a car - were you in Edinburgh by any chance collecting supplies?

Water buffalos done to a 't', ostrich legs are looking good, alligator canapes are up and running and the shark burgers are already on the plates. There is a side dish of 'roo steaks' if anybodies interested.

Peter

Sounds great, Peter, I see from the deccy thread that Carol has her stovies at boiling point and BB has come up with some special un-Christmas cakes and vol au vents (says the beige filling is coffee flavour - what else could it possibly be? makes me nervous but I'll be polite and try one anyway)  Anyway my clapshot is hot and steaming.

I have had some sprouts  on simmer  since February.  They are not quite done.  But for those who dont mind them a bit 'al dente' Ill bring them along to contribute.
