 ;D
awww  thanks for such a nice welcome !
i'll give you a brief run down about me  ;D
i live in durham, have 4 kids, 2 horses, 25 hens , 5 cocks (!), 1 chick, 4 dogs, 6 puppies (4wk old mastiff x doberman), 1 cat, 1 rabbit, 8 acres of woodland, and i rent a private alotment/garden just round the corner.
on the lottie, i have a huge greenhouse,(it must be 60ft long but i aint measured it )but half is falling down, a big shed thats been taken over by the chickens (i did only have 8 but 5 were stolen a few weeks ago and when the police caught the ****, they found loads of chickens that no one has claimed yet so i said i would look after them)
theres also a poly tunnel with no poly (ha ha !),
i only started renting it in january, and the bloke that had it before hasn't touched it for about 4 yrs, so i have spent all my time trying to clear it, i have found rubarb, gooseberry bushes, cherry tree, blackberries, huge fuchia bush, and a big lump of fennel that absolutely stinks when you dig it up to move it !!
the whole place is full of victorian bottles too,as the blokes hobby was diggin em up somewhere and bringing em back to dump in plastic bags !
i have a really nice neighbour who also has a garden here and he has any tool you need, rotavators, etc and is always free to lend a hand, bless him ! he rotavated a big patch for me yesterday and has left it with me to do the rest.
well i'd bettr stop now before this becomes a novel, :o ha ha

in lots of ways it was! but  not having water on site was such a drag, especialy when we had to get rid of the discovery so had to push water carriers in a wheel barrow from the road, every day ! plus the husband really couldnt  let go of his electrical stuff, he's into music and computers so would have the generator running till 1am which kinda ruined the peace and quiet,
but it was scarey too, cos even in the summer once it went dark it REALLY went dark! so if we heard any noises it was a 10 minute dash to start the genn so we could put a light on , it makes you feel very vunerable  :o . if we'd have been more isolated it would have been better, as we were just too close to habitation so you never knew who was wandering about :o
but it was an experience !!!

triffid

Wow, laikadog... the wood looks absolutely beautiful on a sunny spring day, but as you say, at night I can see how weird it would feel with the possibility of wandering humans.
How long were you living there?
