.
On a personal note I can't believe how bad I feel about the loss of someone I never met - I think that shows just what a very special person she was - touching so many of us in so many ways.
My thoughts exactly MM, and my heart is heavy for poor Will.

I can see the florists face now "peasprouts ? leeks ?  STRAW ???"   ;D

and our SS would LOVE IT !

;D
But what a challenge. Can you imagine the result? ;D
Smile, it confuses people.

Biscombe

Wouldn't that be wonderful! a beautiful arrangement of veggies surrounded by companion flowers of course!

Marymary

It would be wonderful so how can we do it?  ???

Blue Bird

Could we have a Supersprout Super Swap with all the seeds that she has sent out to us all - if we keep some back and swapped on the 1st March each year as a remembrance

Just a thought as she sent me seeds and I know she sent many more to others ????

Jeannine

Please include me in anything you do,the seeds she sent me just popped up today and it feels quite weird looking at them.Tulipa, are you talking about sending real squash, it is not the best time of the year but I do have several delikata squash that are still ok in storage and  perhaps a couple of Kuri I think,I am happy to post them anywhere.
Another idea would be to inscribe  her name on  developing pumpkins or large squashes, by harvest time the name  will be very big and prominent and a different colour to the rest of  the rind, perhaps then we could make a squash page of pictures for her. I can send pictures of how it looks finished now  and how to do it  if anyone is not familiar with this. It's pretty cool!I used to do it with my kids.
Please let me know.

I like the idea of us all being able to contribute to some flowers, up to a certain budget, with the remainder of money going to the hospice?

I love the idea of the supersprout seed swap on March 1st each year - a very fitting way to keep her memory alive in all of our gardens/allotments.  A virtual cup competition for most improved lottie that everyone could vote on is a top idea too.

What a great idea BB!! Sarah would love that!
Shall we all plant something special over the weekend followed by a minute silence? well, thats what I´ll be doing got a yellow raspberry with the mighty Supersprouts name on it, miss you SS xxxxx

MrsKP

love the seed swap idea.  I've still got some of SS Pineapple tomatoes and I'll be saving a whole lot more come the end of the season.

I love the squash idea as well Jeannine, but you're assuming my squash will grow !!!!  (never tried them before lol).

manicscousers

new rhubarb, mulched up with straw, of course.. ;D

OliveOil

Yes a seed swap is great idea... how about we get our seeds together over the weekend and start a swap thread. I have some seeds from SS that i would happily swap with others (squashes, scorzonera, beetroot and all sorts)

Blue Bird

I like the idea of planting something this weekend like Biscombe and saying a little pray for SS then each year having something special

kitten

Great idea biscombe, i have some rasp canes to go in, will put them in this weekend with a straw mulch and a special prayer x

<< But he did say he didn't want flowers on his coffin - just a few potatoes, leeks and tomatoes. >>

My own mother's coffin was decorated with mushrooms, 9 or 10 different species.

Poor Will, it is so sad to lose your mother.

I would like to support all of the suggestions in anyway I can. Thank you Trixie for suggesting the squash seeds, it would be a privilege to plant a special squash bed in Sarah's honour. Will keep my eyes open for when contributions are needed for flowers or donation to the hospice. It has been a very gloomy day today and it would be good to be able to do something practical to show how much we all care. busy_lizzie

If I ever knew Sarah the best way to remember her would be

The show must go on,keep on mulching and keep on smiling

Ahmed my neighbour has very kindly sorted all the squash seeds into trays today ready for drying in the greenhouse  :) For anyone who's requested some, they should be ready to send next week sometime. I've got LOADS by the way, so if anyone else wants some just PM me.

And Mrs KP, I'd love some pineapple tomato seeds, thank you! ***Rushes off to Google pineapple tomatoes!***
