praps she's hatching a bulb?

5 mins previous to that pic being taken she was actually sitting in the hanging bird table sunbathing.

she let me get so close that i thought she was actually ill.  think she was just being fat and lazy in the sun and we all know what that's like lmao (well not you obviously  :P)

I was quite worried about her actually Carol.  That pic was literally taken about 1' away.

she eventually flew off so i like to think she was just having a wee rest. she looked healthy enough, but i did wonder.

When a bird's that tame it's usually sick.

oh great, there's me fostering ideals that she's just enjoying a bit of sun and now you tell me 50% of my garlic crop as gone west cos i've got a sick dove sitting on it.

(what should i do, if i can do anything, SHOULD i do anything)

she/he looked quite fat and was waddling somewhat.  i did have half an idea that she was pregnant (sorry don't know the correct term for loved up doves) but thought it was far too early.

she actually looked in beautiful condition (hence the term "she").

am even more worried now.

I suppose there's always the chance that she's just very placid. A  few years ago , a dove fell down our chimney. There was a gas fire infront of it. Eventually, we managed to dismantle it all to see what the noise was. The dove was very dirty,but seemed ok. I got a towel to put around my hands incase it pecked me when I picked it up. It was an amazing experience I will never forget. The dove just accepted what I was doing and didnt flinch. I put it on the windowsil, and after a minute or so it flew away to a tree in the garden. Minutes later it flew away.

I can now understand where the saying 'Gentle as a dove' comes from. Here's hoping it is just a very friendly one, as they are wonderful birds.

the collared dove is so easily tamed that the white domestic strain is what magicians use for their dove tricks?
so praps this one was indeed just friendly?
in my experience sick wild birds dont stay sick very long, regardless of what you try and do to help them :(
