A drivel posting really...well it is nearly midnight, my horlicks has kicked in and I am almost ready to get into my bed.  :)

Out and about today in the car, just daydreaming, and as we went around a roundabout I noticed that nearly all the cars were silver grey!  Literally all of them.  Ours is a green machine.  When we parked, we stood out because again, silver grey cars everywhere.  Is silver grey the new black?

When I got OH her new car we she was given a choice of colours, yellow, black, blue and 3 types of silver.  It must be cheaper to produce. I have to flick the key fob in the car park to find it as she loved the light silver colour. If I remember right my truck is green under all the dirt.

we were told metallic paint's better for resale value ?   ??? ???

A comment I made to my daughter the other day when she was pointing out different types of cars was,  every other car seems to be silver I thought it was just me  ??? ??? ??? :-\ ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Oh, I noticed on my first journey in my "new" silver car.  Came out of Tescos and it took me ten minutes to find the b*gger.

There was an article in the Guardian a few months back all about the silver fashion. It's not just cars, but also fridges, dishwashers, toasters, TV's  tc. All this silver stuff will probably look really dated in 10 years time ::).

greyhound

If I like something I don't give a fig whether somebody else thinks it's dated.  As for the car, though, it can be any colour it likes as long as it goes all right.

We too have a silver car, no choice in the matter, it was the right car in the right place at the right price! Was rather taken aback to come out from the library to find three silver renault megane scenics parked in a row! (mine was in the middle) ??? ???

Dandelion, funny your saying that about kitchens. I renewed ours in the early 80s, in silver and black. You wouldn't believe the difficulty I had getting some of the stuff then. Shortly afterwards, it became fashionable  and silver and black was everywhere, much to my miffed-ness.

My dear old dad died almost a year to the day.  He had a green Golf estate which he left to us.  I was handling the probate and had to get a valuation for the car.  I was told that it was worth far less specifically because it was oceanic green!  I loved the colour (and hence the valuation)!  Personally I've always disliked red cards. Is silver the new red?

Rose.mary

It's funny really, But a few years ago I had a red car when every car on the road seemed to be red, and guess what--- I now have a silver one ::)

Colour's important to me. When I asked the dealer to find me a 'new' car I specified the colours I'd accept and decided that dark green would 'go' with all my clothes. When he phoned me to ask me to go in & look at a car (dark green and shiny 8)) I asked him what he could tell me about the car....his sales pitch consisted of him saying "well it's green, innit? You said you wanted green." ;D

Reader, I bought it...

I'll own up to buying a car because it matched my handbag  ;D

Well I have a Red Mini.  I had my choice of colours last year following my accident and my Blue Mini being written off.  I nearly went for another type of Blue Mini but decided I would be easily seen with a Red Car.   OH's car is Black.   ;) ;)

So Geoff's a trend setter. 8)

our new car's called cafe latte, what a daft name, milky coffee
as long as it keeps going, I don't care what colour it is, apart from black, ray won't have a black car, something from his advanced motoring days  ;)

I think the trend for red cars a few years ago was because bulk buying businesses got a discount for that colour; perhaps they now favour silver? I know my friend who is a Community Midwife was offered a cheaper deal on a silver car for work.

I prefer green cars too! Our latest is black, gets mucky dead quick down the lottie though..... ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

We have a lovely dark metalic green 9yr old Omega estate and we did have a metallic red Zafira - very good for carrying clematis as it's tall inside - but that was stolen and now we have adopted a silver Mégane and I really don't like it.  I can't find it in big car parks and today, when I went to give my English class, there were 8 silver cars in a row and one black.  Very dull.
