Some of the quantities seem a bit low for a seasons use but as for value it seems fine to me :).

Hi
There is quite a range in that collection,
I sell seeds on ebay, just peppers at the moment,
I have been meaning to ask...
Can anyone suggest a veg seed collection that would be good to put together,
which differen kinds of veg and in what quantities.
I can then put it together and get it out there.
If anyone has any ideas on a chilli selection aswel,
then I am interested to hear it.
It is difficult choosing what to put in collections as everyone has their
own preferences on what they like to grow.

Sea Chelles - there's quite a lot of variety there. It looks good for getting started, but there are only a few of some things so I wonder if you won't end up buying more to top them up.

If they are mostly things you'd like to grow, though, it looks like good value  :)

You don't  sell the chilli collections which have 20 seeds each of four varieties, do you? If so, I've had some  ;D

As for veg, I think I'd be looking for a collection of basic outdoor staples - a lot of the Ebay seed collections seem to have lots of herbs/cress/greenhouse veg making up the numbers. Like tender and true, bolthardy, that sort of thing. I'd rather buy different stuff to try individually. Or what about offering a roots collection, a brassicas collection etc?

Hi Laura B

I change my collections all the time, I am not sure if it was me,
I have a link on my profile, so that should tell you.

I haven't really grown much veg.
Could you suggest some names of different varieties that you would like to see,
and how many of each, as obviuosly different veg you need different ammounts of seeds for. The specific collections sounds like a good idea.
Maybe a bean collection, and a lettuce colletion would be good too.
I am not sure a complete veg selection is the way to go ,
because different people have different tastes.

Thanks for your ideas
Peter

It would seem fine to me if I was just starting out wanting to try/experiment with new veg on my plot. Or if you have a small holding, and like the varieties packaged, with intenion to grow all the seeds.

But as previously stated - some of the quantities do seem to ensure you will purchase more depending upon your household diet requirements

Sounds like a fab little collection of goodies to start off with! I've been doing daily ventures to woolies, poundland and wilkinsons to reccy for cheap seeds etc. Woolies doing buy one get one free on Mr Fothergills at mo- very nice.
Don't throw paper away. There is no away.

I raided Woolies yesterday and got a couple of grapevines for my pergola - you know - the one I haven't built yet!!!!
For when I have won the couch grass battle, everythings growing away and I get to sit with a glass of something cold and survey my perfect lottie!!!!

Nipped into Poundland - and noticed they had seed potatoes if you're interested!

Try a mix of chillies for regional cooking (Mexican, Thai, Oriental etc).
A stuff-able, a mild, a medium and a hot
Death by Capaiscin range (naga, scotch bonnet etc)

;D ;D This year I am growing lots of beans for freezing -you know in the freezer I haven't bought yet. I'm not even sure where it will go (probably on top of the washing machine).

Nice ideas,
maybe I will do a greenhouse collection too.
I think I might avoid the whole naga thing tho.
There is so much debate around it, and it is hard to get seed for.
Cheers for the input

I bought some Dorset Naga seeds before xmas, I'll be sowing them soon.
I grew some Red Savina last year (nearly as hot), but only had one chilli from
the plant.  :( And in that there was only one seed.  :( I wonder if it will germinate?
I've got some Bhut Jolokia coming up at the moment, they are meant to be
2.5 times hotter than Naga. About 1 million on the Scoville scale.  :o

The Red Savina was very hot, I put in a 10 chilli sauce I made (with 9 other types!).
I'm selling a few chilli seeds and other seeds on ebay.
