our plotment is in golborne, warrington
you can check out some of our site picies on link below  and see the club house built on 4 of our biggest plots and roadway last year....this gave us all ( 8 of us only ) much smaller plots....we have been given some tocen extra land ( like the american indians) to help stop an uprising by us   all of us except our chairman uses the raised bed method...old free pallets...our lotty is the one with the polly tunnel and the strange man next to our sunflowers ...me...

I'm a newbie in Norfolk. Saw my plot for the first time last night, haven't signed the agreement or got the keys yet but am itching to get started! The plot is a bit bigger than most of the others; the usual rectangle plus a bit extra at one end, so more of a triangle. It was a bit difficult to see much in the gloom last night but there's a shed (possibly used for chickens), two trees (one apple and one something else) and a LOT of nettles!!! Any advice on where to start very gratefully received.

wellingtons

My plot is on a lovely site in Guildford.   All of the plots are taken and the majority of them are well worked, we do have one lovely old fella who's just had a heart attack so I've suggested we set up a rota to keep the weeds down a bit for him.

The site is in a very sheltered site in a dip between a wetlands centre and the river.  With quite dense trees along three sides.  The soil is a fabulous sandy loam and the underlying water level appears to be quite good.

We don't suffer too much from rabbits and I'm quite frankly amazed at the lack of slugs and snails on the site ... ? is the soil too sandy for them I wonder?

Wheres that Wellingtons as I am on the Aldershot road site - behind the Mercedes garage - the site that GBC want to build on!

This is a long thread....I got to page 8 then skipped to the end. I'll have to read some more later. My allotment is in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. I see there are a few other posters nearby. I have had it a year now. I was hoping to go there today but it decided to pour down so hopefully it will be dry enough tomorrow.

Newbie in south London here, allotment is in Eltham. And there are still some spaces free I think, if anyone is looking just contact Greenwich Council. It's very overgrown and being reclaimed. :) I'm hoping my plot will help me forget that I'm in south London actually. ;)

Hi  Timelady I was born and bred in Eltham. Vandyke Cross Off Eltham Hill!!! Went to The Odeon last year when visiting my sister in Erith. She always goes to the Odeon for her Saturday Bingo session ;D ;D Most of my (large)family still live Eltham/Blackfen/Sidcup.

Cool! This is on Middle Park Ave. I actually live over in Lee Green and cycle over but Greenwich lets non-residents have allotments too. We pay about £8 more a year. :D That's pretty good if there's still an Odeon in Eltham!

lorna

Sure is a small world. Late brothers widow and daughter still live in Gregory Crescent,(off Middle Park Avenue)

Geo

Mine is in South Birmingham..It's mostly grass at the moment :o
