Aaaw CL, I am so sorry, there is nothing I can say that will make you feel better, just sending you loads of cyber hugs, we are thinking of you.  You gave her a good life and lots of love, what more could she want...  Cherish your memories of her.

CL, I am so sorry to hear your sad news! I know how painful it will be for you, having been through the same thing earlier in the year. Allow yourself to grieve and remember all the good times and the special bond you had between you.  Thinking of you and also sending you cyber hugs!  :'( busy_lizzie

My beloved lurcher went last year, she was just 2 months older ... I still miss her, but

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years -
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Thinking of you CL.  Very sad news indeed.

Thank you so much, all of you, my gardening friends.

Greyhound, the tears flowed when I read your poem, but it is a comfort too, as it is perfect. That is how is was.

I am thinking of her running with her Dad and her sister....

So sorry to hear your news CL,  Love Becky.

I had a few tears too CL, when I read Greyhounds poem.  It is such a hard thing to do, even though you know it is for the best, and the poem sums it up very well!  :( busy_lizzie

I'm glad the poem helps, CL.  It always has me in tears too, but makes me feel better at the same time.  Tears are good though.  ;)

Not my poem - it's one of those that goes around, and no one seems to know the author.

CotswoldLass

Greyhound,

I sent the poem to my great friend, who I met as she had beloved lurcher's Dad. She has it too, but had not sent it to me yet as it was too raw. I told her who sent it, it was good. Another honourable lurcher friend!

I think of my beautiful one, and kind of saw it last night in the garden ..on the right was her sister, on the left her Dad, and she turned to me with those great big brown eyes to say' it is alright if I go now Mum'.....

I miss her more than I can say, but I am so lucky to have had such a beautiful, loyal, wonderful friend for all that time.

Bless you, CLx
