 weans (pronounced wains) is a scots term, probably something to do with weaning , but weans are weans from birth until you send them off into the great wild world with a suitcase and a pot of daffodils.  i don't know where other than in glasgow it's used, but it's the more common term for children. we also say 'wee yin', but wean is the more common term.

yes yes yes....very cute, but just check out your jungle!  Wowzers - looks like my idea of heaven!  No wonder he is nosing around in there.  When number one son was that age, he busied himself in my greenhouse and picked every single green tomato for me and brought them in to me in a pot....hmmmm....
