After a year + , would you still recommend the Honda tiller?

Very much so. SO much better than the Mantis - which has its purpose, of course.

Main trouble is that, with increasing infermity, I am finding it quite a weight to carry. Yes, it has wheels, but too much fiddle-faddle!

Absolutely dead chuffed with it ;D excellent piece of equipment, very reliable and does the biz 4 me, fits neatly in my small Matiz with the back seats down. :)

The only problem I have found although very minor is you have to be very careful how you fold the handle bars when transporting as they tend to catch the start/stop cable and the accelerator cable if you are not careful, this could be a costly error. :(

You won't regret it, engineering today is at its peak, I have not lifted the bonnet on my car in almost 3 years (as it is under warranty) although I must admit the car is not a necessity in our home and mileage is very low, but it has gone through two serviceswithout a hitch ;D

yes i would agree i have had my honda for about as long as ive had my allotment about 3 yrs i dont think i could manage it without it.i picked the honda on recomendation from the man in the garden shop and because as a woman i was able to lift it into my car.also i dont have to take the handles apart as it just fits in.this is my first post although ive been on the outskirts since ive had my allotment but i was bursting to say how good my honda was.regards fushiaknits

I was doing a search through the archives and found a post from Caz & Baz saying that they brought a mantis with a four stroke Honda engine. Tried to pm them but their in-box is full, to see if this was a good buy also.  Tim you said the Honda was better than the Mantis, I assume you meant to use, as I believe your Mantis is electric, so it's not a noise problem. For me this is typical, I had made up my mind, came on-line to place the order, then thought why not just check the threads etc. and I'm off again.

and i can say that it does a superb job on our plot which is very clayey-tho i havent had the oppertunity of trying a petrol driven tiller-me little electric job is now on loan to merlins mum who has just moved to lincolnshire-she says its great too!

Mike - I tried both Mantis's. The electric is great for convenience & quiet but, to my mind, the Honda is vastly superior to the petrol one.

Good enough for me Tim, the Honda it is.

Arrived today and I've ' Tilled ' a bed and planted red clover as a green manure. Worked a dream, thanks Tim and Roy.

You won't be sorry, I have complete confidence in Honda engineering as I bought an old generator that refuses not to start ;D and having seen on the news recently the "Which" report that states the "Honda Jazz" as the most reliable car is very reassuring. ;D

We do have a Wolesley as well for the 'serious' work.

Looking back - the 4 stroke Mantis would overcome one of my objections - noise.
