Look what the kids found....now where is that pot of gold?

Lovely image, Emma. I was walking home from work last week and there was a similarly intense rainbow, then a second one appeared around it. My camera was not to hand of course ...

I remember once driving along the A38 going from Tewkesbury to Gloucester. The fields drop away from the road at one point, and there, in this big field, was a complete rainbow from beginning to end. Luckily there was a lay-by nearby & I stopped and gazed at it til it disappeared.

Fantastic aren't they. Someone once told me that pilots high up see them as full circles. We'll have to ask Tim if it's true. Great pictures!
I would love to see the Northern Lights someday.

Lovely rainbows and pics EJ.  Whenever I see one I always want to tell  passersby to look up as they seem so unaware of the magic happening above their heads.  Have seen the Northern lights a few times and they are fantastic.  Hope you see them some day Brian! busy_lizzie

I've stood on the odd mountain and seen a large part of the circle. The most spectaular thing of the sort I've seen was a rainbow-coloured solar halo while walking across Rannoch Moor in 1978. It was a lot brighter than any rainbow I've seen.

Lovely pictures EJ. My bestest rainbow was a doubler,one above the other ,out over the sea.

My son said,I wish I could find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but I would leave some of the gold so that there will always be rainbows."

check this one out, on hols in ireland (south) last year we were going up  & down and it was drizzlybut sunny at parts and we got a photo of this rainbow which was actually below us. it was amazing!

Rainbow's a classic - sun higher than 42 degrees so the cone is below ground level unless you are up a hill :)
