First ever scorzonera planted on a sunny landing on 1 April in loo rolls, thinnings one week later. The leaves have just appeared (no stalk), so the longest roots must nearly be at the bottom of the 4 " tube now :o. I thought they'd be indoors for a couple of weeks but they seem to have other ideas.

They will have to go to their permanent home on the lottie in the next few days (possibly with a fleece). A builder's bag of spent hops/coffee grounds/BF&B is waiting so they can get on down, that's what they seem to want 8).

First time grower, proud of roots but wanting any advice you have, quick! ;D

You'd be better to wait for the warm weather, then plant direct. I'll be planting mine in the next couple of weeks, probably under cloches at this rate.

Thanks robert, 40 loo rolls full to go out NOW :-[ but will also plant direct in early May and see what happens. I had no idea germination would be so good, or the roots so forceful! Looks like fleece is in order til mid to end May, but looking back that's not unusual is it?  ::)
