Don't know whether it has been said on here yet - if I am repeating others then I apologise.

Ozzy has admitted he was wrong the other day.  He was having a very bad time for reasons that it is not my place to go into.  This, along with it being Paddy's Day (Ozzy is Irish) and the Irish justifiably whupping us English at Rugby, he had also imbibed a large quantity over an extended period of time.  He was in the mood for lashing out and lash out he did - the target was irrelevant.  He is very sorry and I am sure that he would have posted that himself had he not been (justifiably (and he agrees)) made READ-ONLY.

PS Engy - no hard feelings at the other place mate, so don't feel unwelcome.  We can throw just about anything at anybody and we all get over it very very quickly.  If you didn't know, I am redimp over there - although some people are convinced I am hiding behind a very convincing nom de plume ;D

Sorry, forgot to post a proper reply to Tim.

Excellent Tim - leave it where it is.  Nothing we can do about wars past, especially those that were to defeat fascism.  All we can hope to do, is to prevent future wars.

My dad was a submariner in WW2 and was lucky enough to come out of two of them after being torpedoed,

I was in boats too Katynewbie, but thank God, after the war was long gone and done with.  Give my regards to your father, now that was bravery.

Since it's my thread, may I second that remark..

'Das Boot' was one of the best films I've seen. Really showed the hell they went through.

Totally agree about the film Tim. In the 70's when I was a wren I was asked to show the public around a sub on one of the Navy Days, got to the bottom of the ladder and went straight back up again!!!! Dad said I was a wimp!! Cant do with small spaces, that probably goes for spitfire cockpits as well...no where to run!!!

Das Boot was a superb film; we could do with less films about people Being Herioic and more about what war really is. I think they've mostly whitewashed WW2.

Love the Wrens, katy - even though my Wife was a 'Gunner'. Dear Cousin was a fitter on Buccaneers - married her pilot!!
