Not backfired yet tim....it amuses me how we all make assumptions about others, we all do it and they're usually wrong.  i love peoples' faces when i tell them i have an allotment!
It'll be better next year

Ceratonia

My name was chosen by simply looking at the label of the plant next to me when I was using the computer - the Carob tree, Ceratonia siliqua aka locust bean, St. Johns Bread and many other things.

Somebody earlier in the thread asked if snails have hearts and the answer is yes. They have brains, too!

QuoteWhat site is that then. Might go and 'look them up'. then ask them about their screen names.

Thanks. I've bookmarked the site to have a look at (and perhaps join) later.

gardening giraffe

I chose the name gardening giraffe as I absolutely adore giraffes, have a few cuddly ones and screensavers etc plus I go to the local safari park once or twice a year to feed them. And the gardening, hence I adore goardening so I jsut combined the two.....

Wondered what had happened to them, looks like I missed all the action!

Gardening Giraffe - love your name, I too have a fascination with giraffes - have 4 on my desk (toy ones obviously!) and we are going on safari for our honeymoon later in the year - can't wait!  ;D

MollyBloom

Becasue Molly Bloom is my all-time favourite fictional character and I grow blooms (among other things).
tim - is it "Truly - It's Me"?

littlegem

My name is Gemma and i was always very little as a child, so littlegem was my CB call sign and it's just stuck (not so little now though, reached 25 a few years ago and its all going badly wrong!)

Sprout

Sprout? Wanted something allotmenty. It was the first one I tried which wasn't already in use. Real name is Mark
Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire

Well this is bringing you all out in force  ;D

So many new names, so many more people to chat to.  How nice.

Hello to you all  ;)

I'm a wierdo.

Great Grandma Blanche Bennett married into the family bringing 4 unmarried sisters and a strain of depressive insanity with her.  One of the Mad Bennett Aunts had to have her entire leg amputated - we don't know why - and she had it embalmed and a long casket made for it.  It lived in the house and was brought out on high days and holy days for inspection ("showing off") to the family guests.  It nearly wasn't buried with her but someone remembered at the last minute.

Hence Bennettsleg.  My mother's ashamed of me... ;D ;D ;D

Real name: Anna

Anna what a fascinating story and how great to have such eccentric and colourful relatives.  Something to be proud of I am thinking!  :D busy_lizzie

Heh, good thread

I'm 'Bellebouche' because that's the name of our little hamlet where we're first time gardeners and learning running a small allotment (or French 'potager') by jumping in at the deep end. Last year was only really half a year but we "did rather well" http://www.bellebouche.com/2005cultivation.html (thanks to some pointers from the A4A forum!)

Adrian

I really enjoyed looking through your blog, super! :D

Heh, glad you enjoyed it.. this growing year we'll be doing a lot more web page writing as over the winter we've used the downtime from not gardening/doing renovations to actually get the website a bit better organised.

The potager is so much a way of life around here and the whole relationship with food (erm, and wine!) was one of our motivators for moving out to France - a year into it and we've had  huge fun growing and producing much of our own food.

All the news that's fit to print is in http://www.bellebouche.com/blog now and the most recent exciting development is I've decided to put in an asparagus bed and bought 30 crowns for it! The frost looks to be behind us now so that'll get dug in the next few days.

Loving your blog, Bellebouche.

Re an earlier post - Undercarriage Plan was supposed to be a combination of Undercarriage and Plant to reflect the joint interests of UC and her partner but she ran out of room when entering her username and was stuck with it.  :D
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Going well - but there are still some who are so coy that they have only repeated their web name. Makes my listing very difficult!

okay I get the message!  I know you (and some others) already know my actual name from our PM's and I have already explained mat is from my initials, which I have grown to love; but my real name is Melanie (almost everyone knows me as Mel) but for emails, etc, I am mat!  Very confusing when my manager is called Matt and I send emails to work from home from "mat"!!!

Thanks bupster. I went over there and sneaked a look  :)
