New Years Resolutions

Funny how New Year Resolutions usually involve giving up something we enjoy (eg fags and alcohol) or having to do something we don't enjoy (eg exercising)!! :) Not fun eh!

Good luck to those giving up smoking! I managed it 7 years ago and it wasn't easy. I had tried several times before and failed. The reason I managed it this time was because I avoided the things I associated with smoking. I avoided meeting friends at the pub as it was much too tempting. I also kept myself occupied during work breaks and avoided going outside. Sounds drastic, but it was the only way for me. I did use a Nicorette Inhalator for the first few weeks which helped take the edge off. Never used it in public as it looked ridiculous having something that looked like a cross between a tampon applicator and a pen lid hanging out of my mouth!  ;D Not sure if they still sell them?
Don't be tempted to say "Just one won't hurt", as I can guarantee it will end up with you going back to smoking. Also if you OH still smokes it will be much harder for you - get them to give up too!

I have to say I felt so much healthier for giving up. I even started to enjoy foods that I never used to - I guess my tastebuds had been dulled by the smoking.

You can even treat yourself to something nice with the money you will save - I bought myself a car!

Anyway - again Good Luck!
(Us ex smokers do go on eh!)  :)

1. Lose weight. OH wants to as well so he wants soup and salad all week. Grrr, what with salad ingredients travelling half round the world and all that....
2. Improve fitness
3. Give up chocolate. Divine (sold in Oxfam shops) is simply divine, and imho, better than Green & Blacks.
4. Drink more water (well, at the mo, cooled boiled water or bottled), she types while drinking coke.
5. Write diary more regularly
6. Read more (got a library. Mimi - want to borrow any books!!!?)
7. Manage time more efficiently...
