I love my dogs, even the puppy, she's been really good but I think its the older dogs influence she is so good. We had a lurcher , part lurcher, for 19 years before these 2, He was a handful, didn't like men, didn't like anyone really, wouldn't come home until he was ready, I'd never get another male dog either, too independant but the Rotties have a bad press and a bad time with other dog walkers. It depends entirely on the training and basic nature of the dog,We've got a Jack Russell and only ever seen 2 off the lead but so far touch wood she hasn't run off yet.

thanks for the link dirk, was thinking of going to a rescue centre as thats where my wifes previous dogs came from, and the cats, rotties are off the menu.

Good luck Iain. You will find plenty of unwanted dogs at rescue centers at this time of year. :-[ :'(

thats why i wanted to wait till after xmas, as i know people just get them for their kids at xmas then dump them when kids get bored with them.

I've got one you can have.  Russy get yer bags packed - you're off!

I bet you don't mean that really.
;)

I knew three Rotties as puppies - lovely dogs. But when they matured - I wouldn't have trusted any of them as far as I could throw them - and that's not far.

You can take me out of Yorkshire - but you can't take Yorkshire out of me

Have no time for dogs these days, but thought that - at least, female - Lurchers were the sweetest things ever?

And do remember that if you are going to get a dog, you have to get its own login name and to remember to logout everytime you have finished on A4A.
