I seem to remember Sting (Gordon) was thin and lanky with spiky blond hair.  Ernie used to drink in the Rising Sun Pub in High Farm in Wallsend and we would often sit with him.

I am definitely a Geordie.  I have always believed it was  those born and living around the river Tyne.  The word "Geordie" came about because of Newcastle and the surrounding areas allegiance to King George during the Jacobian uprising.  Whilst Sunderland were aligned to the opposing side.  :D busy_lizzie
live your days not count your years

reedos

That's what I thought as well Busy Lizzie, I'm a Gateshead born & bred Geordie. Sunderland would be on the other side wouldn't they ?

Funny that Sting guy does nowt for me ;D

Heldi

I remember some blokes where I worked talking about being Geordies. Some of them reckoned you had to be born within 3 miles of the Tyne to be a proper Geordie. I dunno! I'm just repeating what was said.

I just read what I said before...about Geordies being from Newcastle and the towns along the  Tyne and I mentioned Wallsend as a frinstance, sorry Reedos I meant both sides of the Tyne and when I said south of the water I was thinking Sunderland etc...didn't even think about Gateshead. Oops how wars are started eh!I asked OH and he says he's a Geordie so he must be right.  ( Like I EVER think he's right about anything!)

EmmP...my mate's boyfriend from Hartlepool used to get into a right tizzy about the monkey thing...so ofcourse we mentioned it often!

EJ I'm sooooo jealous heeheehee!

I know the Rising Sun in High Farm, Busy.

It always seems difficult at first.

Have a look at http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/yabbse/index.php/topic,2633.msg24088.html#msg24088 - & keep your chat over there to keep this permanent board free?

Also search 'posting photos' - there are more aids.

If you're still stuck, e-mal me & I'll try to help.

I have just been reading through a few of these profiles especially those that mention "Geordies" and "Sting".

My husband is from Durham and doesn't consider himself to be a "Geordie".  He believes the label should only refer to those in Newcastle itself.

Now Sting lives about five miles away from me and do you know what, he has never asked me round for a cup of tea.  He won't get any of my squashes!!

Well I'm also a nosey person so I'll tell you abit about me.

My name is Verity, I am 29 and come from Dundee in Scotland. I am divorced with no kids unless you count my 2 dogs Murphy and Yogi. I took on my first ever plot in April with no gardening experience at all and i now have 2. It has become a bit of an addiction, quite good considering I have been suffering with agoraphobia for 7 years now.
i have been coming here for a little while now and the advice has been invaluable so thank you all.

Glyn

Excellent Verity. ;D
Keep coming.. ;D
