Bad habits on the TV

While watching TV over the last few weeks I have begun to notice how often they show you people talking with there mouths full of food, and thinking to myself what a bad habit to teach the youngsters watching these programmes. When I was a lad (here I go) I got a good telling off from my parents for doing such a thing,  And could never leave the table with out saying ...please may I leave the table.

What bad habits annoy you?    ???

Going out and leaving the telly on. Throwing paper balls round the classroom. Moaning when allotment produce isn't as nice-looking as Tesco's.

Singing while wearing pants on your head.

Sorry not being fascetious really.  I do agree with you Richard.  I have a big soft spot for Dick & Dom (singing with pants) but have to admit that I do cringe at the thought of kids watching some of the things they do.  However, it is the more serious programmes showing bad habits that are probably more to blame for this lack of basic standards - however, parents should not be able to shirk their share of the blame either.

Typical teacher - blame the parents forgetting that they are by the nature of their job about the worst parents there are (I will be going to the Christmas production held by my class and school but not my kid's ones).

I have always liked that crossover telly though - does anybody remember What's up Doc with Andy Crane?

My number one pet hate is lazy parents who just aren't interested in their children's lives  >:(  See it every day and it makes me very sad (and very angry)

Smoking (kill yourself but leave me alone)

Racism!!!  Reserved only for the unintelligent  :)

Had to laugh at the eating with mouth open comment - not because I find it amusing in that sense - but because it reminded me of when I and my siblings were younger and my brother was always getting ticked off for eating his weetabix with his mouth open - yeuch!  In the end he resorted to hiding behind the box, hahahaha.

People that pick their noses in their cars and think we can't see them! ;D
We don't inherit the earth, we only borrow it from our children.

Using the mobile phone whilst driving.

Drinking and driving.

Litter (right up there as my number one!)

Spitting in the street.

Grafitti

Pushing and shoving (why can't we all be polite and friendly!)

Aggressive driving.

All things that affect me and mine.  Dangerous driving terrifies me.  I walk the kids to school and so often see near misses.
Litter - YUCK!  Why would you just drop your crap on the ground....do you like living in a rubbish dump?
Spitting - GROSS!  Why?
Pushing and shoving....it upsets my kids, they don't understand why people need to shove, why can't everyone take it in turns, why push in, isn't that rude?  Really upsets them.

Blimey, am I a Victorian parent??

Yellow Petals

Oh, I agree, Emma.  Spitting is so vile.

Nose picking is the only thing which actually makes me gag.  I can't stand it.  Why do they think it's funny to show an entire section of it on things like, 'Youve been framed'?  Grrrr.  <jumping on and off of soapbox>

Sometimes I hear children's TV on in the background and I'm quite shocked at what passes for suitable these days.  I don't think I'm being an old fogey but it just doesn't seem necessary but does explain a few things.

lorna

My real pet hate is... people not clearing up after their dogs. Thank goodness it seems to be improving since our Council have employed an "out of hours" dog warden and have actually given on the spot fines
One of my daughters has to walk her children through an alleyway when taking her kids to school. Last year a man just let his dog do his business in front of her. She asked him to clear it up, anwwer.. I haven't got a bag!! Alyson produced one. He still refused so she said she would report him. He just laughed and said you don't know me.. Alyson said I have a camera here and will take your photo. He cleared it up!!!!!
Why can't  people be considerate??

Lily

Here is my 2 penath ( pron. penath)  ;D  ;D  ;D .  I must be in that sort of mood today.

People who don't hold the door open for you.
People who don't say thanks after you open the door for them.
Picking noses.
Coughing - not putting hand over.
Loud people.
Door to door sales people.
Hasbo's
Parents who don't listen to their children.
Children who don't listen to their parents.
People who insist on being at work when they are poorly and pass germs onto everyone else.
Laziness
People without manners.
People who insist on being right ALL the time.
SLUGS  ::)  ::)

I'd better stop there

Must agree with you all on manners, I always told my children that whereever they go to always say please and thank you.  I think and believe that you are remembered by saying those two little words.

What irritates me on the TV  is people saying, for example, "It cost me fifteen pound."  You will hear me hiss "Fifteen POUNDSSSSSSSSS"

My biggest bug bear in day to day living is this...prepare for a rant...

People who park their god damned cars on the paths. I don't drive.I walk every where. I push a pram. Why the hell should I be continually forced out onto the roads because some ignorant car driver values the safe passage of another crappy car than the safe passage of me and my children??!! Why is not getting a scratch on your paint work more important than me, a humble environmentally friendly walker? I HATE IT. Why don't some of you car drivers get off your backsides and try using your legs?  I've had a car driver reverse into my pram because the idiot was too busy lighting up to be aware of anything else. I had another nearly drive into us last week whilst leaving the curb side because I was forced into the road.THINK THINK THINK!!! Don't park in front of the ramps either...try using a wheelchair for a week and see how hard it is to navigate around the streets. Remember your manners car drivers.I am libel to have a Basil Fawlty moment on your precious heap of junk.

And relax.

Lily

I like gentlemen. ;)

You know a man has good manners, when he walks on the side of the path nearest the road.  That is very rare these days and only comes from men, shall we say of a certain age. I'm vary sad to say that my OH is no such gent.  He's younger than me ;D  ;D - only by a few years, therefore I excuse him.

dog mess, graffiti, litter, bad manners, bad driving, not indicating when turning,  yes def spitting eeuuuuu, cars on paths so agree, Heldi......liberal use of  f word, in fact..as to litter when younger, bout 5, big sis bro and me, took wheel barrow and head off round village to pick up litter....got home and very proudly showed our mum our huge pile of litter, grinning our little heads off....was bit surprised at her reaction, she ran off with the wheel barrow and hurled it all on the bonfire.....apparently we had collected an excellent choice of porn...... ::)

I spit the f word when I come across a car on the path and litter the owner with rude words under my breath hee hee!

undercarriage plan

Will let you off, Heldi, cos I do too!!! But I mean in the way of Jamie Oliver in his School dinner programme, was so intrigued but found myself counting f words instead of listening to what he was trying to get across!! Think it loses its effect when it's said after every other word.....when I say it, peeps run for cover!!  ;D
And, though sad, am not surprised, Wardy, this seems to becoming a more "I'm alright so blow you" kinda world...

lorna

Heldi. Agree 100% re cars parked half on pavements. In fact it is illegal but nobody seems to care (I am a driver) and take your point regarding pushchairs etc. My late husband was in a wheelchair for several years and when we went for walks I would be really annoyed about cars parked where they souldn't.
The one I come across now (Ioften pick Grandson up from school) are the people who are too lazy to park a little bit away from the school and just sit and wait on yellow lines for their kids to come out of school.

some of my pet hates
1.
people who dont follow rules example: on the beach beside where i live, there are no motorbikes, quads, beach buggys etc allowed as per the large sign at the entrance to the beach. yet every sunday what are there? loud obnoxious dirt bikes all over the place. the rules aren't enforced at all.

2.
littering

3.
people who drive EVERYWHERE unneccesarily or take the lift every time instead of the stairs

4.
noisy badly behaved children in public (i didn't get smacked as a child HOWEVER the threat of a smack made me think twice about acting up)

5.
fighting in pubs clubs - why?

6.
queue jumping

7.
people with no manners

8.
people who flip their lid at the slightest thing

9.
stubborn people

10.
people who say 'i cant' too much

11.
