What brilliant pics DorisP!  Looked like a fab halloween party! Really clever carvings and you and your OH looking suitably goulish.  Did you ever do a guest appearance in Michael Jacksons's "Thriller" video?  ::)  ;D busy_lizzie

Mrs Ava

heheheh, made me laugh all over again!

Love the pumpkins.  We are going to have another session this weekend when stepdaughter comes to stay.  I promised I would save her one, and now we have the brother-in-law, wife and baby Thomas coming, I can sense all of my big ones being turned into artistic sculptures!  Glad I have a bit of room in the freezer for the baking!

amanda21

great carvings  :) - how do you do the picture ones - just with a sharp knife?  I have trouble just getting eyes in the right place and not loosing the fangs in the mouth, let alone not slitting my wrists in the process?  Do you scoop out all the flesh just leaving the skin?

Doris_Pinks

Amanda I have been using these type of saws for 16+ years, they work well!!

Scoop out the area you are going to carve to make it thinner and therefore easier, though I did a young un this year and went right through it's skin! :(
This thread may be of help to you

Look as tho you and your groom are real soulmates - weren't you lucky to find each other  ::) - bet your kids will have great memories too.  As for the carving, what can I say - well done you.

Tulipa

Asda had carving kits for 97p!  The scoop handle snapped off but it still did a good job and the saw worked really well.

I have one of the kits mentioned above but couldn't find it so was glad of the Asda one.  They may have them even cheaper now!

DP love the pumpkins they look really good , and you and oh look really good too hope you had a good evening

Heldi

Wow great pumpkins and you both look brilliant DP !  Who did the face paints?!

Doris_Pinks

Heldi that would be me! I don't normally look like a chipmunk, you can put that down to liquid latex which everyone had great delight in peeling off my face at the end of the evening......I looked like I had had a chemical peel.........but my face was lovely and smooth in the morn! ;D  ;D (bet that did the wrinkles a power of good! :-\
