Mr. C. and I have been working hard cleaning up the lottie. We can see the paths in the flower part again, now I can't wait for the plants to overgrow the sides of the paths a bit. I don't like the looks of bare soil in a flower garden but that's what happens when you clean up, it's just temporary.

Fencing around the veggie part is against rabbits, from back to front: Painted ladies, climbing french beans, courgettes, swiss chard, beetroot, lettuce, herb strip (not visible behind the shrubs)
The ugly plastic is the protection of the courgette plants, I didn't want to cut the roll of bubble plastic so I planted it too. I'm going to take it off soon with the warmer weather on the way.
What's the old ski pole right in the middle of the picture for hahaha? To keep us from cutting corners and stepping on the newly planted salpinglossis.

From back to front on the left: broad beans, strawberries and under the fleece are on the left (not visible), clubroot resistant brocolli plants and parsnips (for the first time, not germinated yet).
To the right of the greenhouse low french beans (outside the rabbit fencing, fingers crossed), in front of the greenhouse: a short row of some more lettuce, long row of kapucijners (a type of pea), behind them are 6 blue berry bushes hardly visible and all the way on the right, part of the black berry stand.

When the broad beans are gone, which is soon, that frees-up more space for things like carrots, leeks, purslain, chicory, etc. but no onions anymore due to white rot.

As wonderful as ever. Well done both.

I like a bit of bare earth - something not covered by weeds. Seldom see it!!

Mimi

I never think of your space as an allotment Ina.  It always looks like a lot of loving and tender care that has gone into making a garden.........all be it away from home.  ;D
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

ina looks wonderfull, very cared for and the flower garden part looks like a cottage garden very nice :)

Thanks.

Hehehe, I know what you mean Tim.

It's the only garden we have Mimi, just wait till we don't have to hold jobs anymore like many allotment holders on our complex. I must say tho' that many of the retired people's allotments are beautiful but often they are too sterile, straight and perfect for my taste.

Modify.... Dibberxxx just posted. So glad you mentioned the cottage garden Dib, that's the style we like.

Lovely garden Ina  :)  I'm with you on the straight rows business - don't like them though I'm sure they are easier  :)
I came, I saw, I composted

Great pics again, Ina. The whole set-up has a real "comfy" feel about it, well tended and well loved.
Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

Today was the last day of our week vacation off work and we feel every muscle in our bodies I think but we got all the clean up and some planting done in the lottie.
Upon leaving the allotment we always have a look at it from the main path, yessss, it's starting to take shape. Then I read all your nice comments and feel even a little proud hehehe.
Such fun to share it with you all.
Thanks people.
