Back to the family tree again! ;D
Does anyone have any tips on how to get further back than the oldest census results online?
I have found a Pinks rellie that was born in 1812, but have no idea what to do now or how to get any further back.
Any tips gratefully recieved!!  DP

Order up the birth certificate. That will give you the parents name and locality.

This site will not help with your research into your family tree, but can tell you how many people have the same name as yourself. A bit of fun.

fun site Granny_Smith, I'll be playing with names all day

There's just one person with my name and surname - so it must be me, and there is only one of my daughter - that'll be her then!

152 people have my maiden surname, and 6244 with my husband's surname - does that make me considerably posher than him??

7 people are called Jade Green

Brilliant fun - thanks GS

Good site Granny.

There are only two people with my maiden name and first name. I wonder if I'm still one of those. But loads with my married name.

I'm rarer than hubby too...

178 people with my maiden name. Over 51,000 with hubby's surname! (I'm definitely a commoner now!)
gone to pot :D

hmmm...it says I'm the only one with my name, but I know thats not true since dh grandmother has exctally the same name as me!

Hi Doris....you need to go to the nearest County Records Office to where you have the last proof of your ancestor...they are very helpful..you may have to register as a researcher but no problem...ticket lasts several years..The more expensive way is to use the main records office in London..near to KEW.Or you can pay someone. The different Record Offices have fische machines where you can print off copies of old parish birth, deaths and marriage records., as my local library recently.....1697,,1725  and so on....If you have details of a birth..look for parents marriage ..then look about 20 years before that to find birth of parent and so on.Helps if all in the same area. Just found a link in my own family back to 1200, but someone else did a lot of the work.Try Curious Fox.com or MSN Groups or Google.

Doris, it depends on the parish, but a few churches still keep their own baptism registers - and it would have been rare back then for children not to have been baptised - others have handed them over to the local library archive - the local area section of libraries tend to be brilliantly helpful with old census records etc.

Do you have a birth year?

Doris_Pinks

Yes, 1812, In Islington, others are in the 1820's. Have had a contact from genes reunited, and we have the same Great great great Grandparents, which I find very curious. So odd that 2 people can produce so many relations, great innit!
