I don't know what it is like where you are, but here it is drizzling, the sky is grey, the temperature outside is 5c. and the wind chill factor is taking it down to the point where even a thick coat and woolly bobble hat make no difference.

It has rained so much in the last two days that the soil is saturated. If you stand at the bottom of the garden and listen, you can hear a noise, like that made when you suck your teeth. It is coming from the soil.

The old pond which I am in the process of filling in, has now got water in it, despite me poking the fork through the liner.

The soil pile which I am using , despite being covered over for the last 5 years has weed roots in it (dock for one)

My sciatic nerve in my left leg is screaming blue murder. all the way down to my ankle.

I started taking photographs of the new plants in the Alpine House so that I could keep a record of growth, but my hands are so cold I cannot keep the camera still.

All in all I am not a happy person!!!!!!!!

Right moan over, off to Homebase to price up a new kitchen.

Hope everything is perfect where ever you are!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Palustris, but it's warm and sunny here in Devon.  ;D ;D
Who planted all these weeds?

tim

I'm so glad we have a large kitchen that I can retire to when the weather's like this. AGA warm!

Carol

Well, what a shame but I am used to such weather and hearing from other folk in here that they are having lovely weather is so downheartening.   Today,  well its really quite nice here in the Borders, albeit a bit breezy.  We have decided to go a walk along the cliff tops at Spittal.  Will be wrapping up well.   Thems the breaks Eric.   Enjoy Homebase dont spend too much money.......

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It is vile in south lincs  too

My toms refuse to budge and my beans are still underground.

I still can't put up the greenhouse coz every time I try to,  my hands feel like they will freeze to the frame.

Worse still my bantams are refusing to produce a fertile egg as they are still under the impression that we are in the middle of winter.

I'm staying in until July

it is frustrating, its lovely and sunny here but the ground is saturated as its been raining since thursday so i can't get much done.

hi Loz, i grew up in Spalding...

Felt to ill on Saturday to dig at the allotment - while the ground was damp but not soggy. Chucked it down here with rain yesterday and yuk today. More rain forecast for the weekend, so no digging then either  :( I need to dig the other half of the bed, and remove all the couch grass from compacted soil for my sweetcorns and squashes to go in to towards the end of next month.

Oh well, at least my seedlings are going okay  :)

Hope homebase was good Palustris  :)
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

Palustris

Back from Homebase (and B and Q and Tile place) and spent NOTHING (except 30 miles worth of petrol).
The temperature has risen, it is now 7c.
The drizzle has stopped
The sky is still grey.
My pain is still bad.
I am glad that it is nice for other people in other parts of the World.
The Kitchen we liked will cost about £2,000 so decisions will have to be made.

It's a beautiful day up my way-blue skies with only the odd bit of cloud and very warm for April!.  Maybe spring is on the way at last.

Sorry Eric beautiful here in the South East, think I may have got a bit too much sun on my face >:( The ground is a bit soggy, but workable, so nice to see that big yellow thing back up in the sky, I shall try to send it your way for a couple of days! If it makes you feel any better, my back is aching like billio cos I overdid it today, I spent money at the garden shop, cos I just had to nip in on the way home from work to see what they had,and we have a bar be que scheduled for 20 people for Sunday and rain is forecast!! Don't you just love our climes! ;D

Just having a stop over at Mum's before I head off on me hols tomorrow..   Eric, sorry to hear that the back is still bad.  As for the weather ............well what can I say ::) that is all we have had for days and days.  The pond has overflown and I think that a lot of taddys have escaped over the lawn..          Ah well  off to sunnier climes tomorrow.   You all be good now ;D
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

Merlins Mum

Very wet here yesterday and although we were told last night by those oh so reliable weather forcasters, ahem, it has been damp and rather cold.  My OH has booked a days holiday tomorrow as he thinks that is going to be the best day of the week!  He's keen, bless him, to get our lovely but not very secure lottie free of weeds.

Very cold in Derbyshire too.  Wet and miserable and nothing doing on the lotty:(
I came, I saw, I composted

carrot-cruncher

Been wet & cold over here in north west leicestershire.   Been on night shift this week & have had to scrap a thin layer of ice of the car two mornings on the trot.   The lottie is so well watered I could nearly swim in the b****y thing.

Everything in the greenhouse is still snuggled under the compost.   The new fuschias think they're doing the hokey-kokey 'cos one minute they're in, the next minute they're out.

Hope it warms up and dries out ready for next week when I'm off

:D My fuschias are out!! When I moved they were in their winter pots, planted nice and deep. Had no choice but to leave 'em out as the greenhouse was not built.

They sat out in the snow in March. Have now been repotted into new compost and most are sprouting. Fuschias are a bit tougher than we think. I will loose one or two but I have over 40. Slight disaster labels fell out of a lot when they were transported in my bumpy traler and those that survived were the faded ones and I can't read the d**n things.

Certainly wasn't nice in my part of the South East yesterday. It was my day off, so I was looking forward to a morning in the garden, followed by riding at lunchtime and then back to the garden.

It was so cold in the garden in the morning my fingers froze. I could sieve the soil as it's too wet. I couldn't crouch and watch the tadpoles as my knee is really stiff and sore from the dampness. Instead I sowed a module tray of sweetcorn and a few melons (dreams of summer). Then it started drizzling.

By the evening it was bright sunshine... when I was preparing dinner, so couldn't even make the most of it.

And today is bright sunshine, clear skies and warm... And I'm stuck in the basement at work.  :-\

Oh well. spring is with us. It'll be summer soon...
gone to pot :D
