Planning ahead - does anyone know of any varities of tomatoes that might be suitable for hanging baskets?  And while we're on the subject of hanging baskets, any herbs that might be suitable?  ???

not sure about the tomatoes, but i have a semi-permanent hanging basket made up of thyme and oregano with a small rosemary bush in the centre.

Tumbling Tom is a good hanging basket tomato Wivvles.  Loads and loads of lovely cherry type fruit and very sweet too.  Dont forget that they will need lots and lots of water though so make sure that you put some water retaining gel crystals in too. ;)
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

I have seen several varieties in my browsing of seed sites and seed catalogues.

There's one from the Organic Catalogue, I'm positive there are ones called balconi something-or-other too, but not sure who from.

Apparently strawberries do okay in hanging baskets too  ;D
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

There's balconi and balconi yellow -I grow the latter as an extra early because it is small enough to put on a pot on the windowsill.

Tumbling Tom certainly is a good one, I grew them last year. Multi Million is another.

I have grown tumbling tom and had loads and loads of sweet cherry toms, excellent!  Herbs in baskets, well, I googled just that, and came up with this site.....

I suppose any of the softer herbs could go into a basket like basil, parsley and chives.

Oooo, and found this one on the T&M site, scroll down for the planting references.....
