I,m not too happy with it..... looks like sawdust and bark chippings. Too heavy and the nursery too far to take back .Maybe  I,m wrong but ,  I,m not sure it will be suitable for sowing seeds in . I,m a little bit annoyed about it actually ..... it 'll  probably be ok for potting up bigger plants .   :-\
Trespassers will be composted !

Last year I was really happy with Wickes multipurpose compost. I bought four bags this weekend, I went outside to sieve it for potting on seedlings and its full of shredded wood. Its awful. I opened up another bag and its the same.
I think I will have to use John Innes seed compost now. The problem is you dont know what youve got until you get it home.

I bought Wyvales compost last year wasn't happy with it  found lots of big bits of fiber and woody stuff ,I had half a bag left, and rather than through it out used it for seeds ,very little happened in the trays ,went and bought John Innes seed compost had good results, its J I for me.

I am using New Horizon again this year - I am happy with it and certainly manage to get good germination even with very little seeds

I've had good germination too- I usually sieve it and add some vermiculite for small seeds, but use it unsieved for potting on.

Just had a thought- there is a New Horizon garden compost which is a soil improver- i prseume you haven't got htis by mistake, woodypecks?

Hi Caroline ...Nope...it says " Multi-purpose " on the bags . ... it  will have to do now  , but probably better for plants in containers .
