hi

my wellies are ripped and could do with more of an ankle type boot this time as I am only in my garden not an allotment any recommendations for something that might do the job?

I though a clog might not be 2 idea with digging etc as I still have landscaping do finish off.

Wellies are wellies and are the most economically efficient footwear for those times when they are needed.

Certainly there are a lot of alternative, water tight footwear on the market but a cheap pair of gum boots does the job.

thanks I have always found them tight on my calfs which is why i though the ankle boots might be a better idea and might be easier to pop on and off as i will only be able to go out at the moment when the babys asleep as its 2 cold to take her out with me and 2 dark after shes in bed.

I got some Hunter clogs in bright yellow, quite cheap but I can't remember where I got them from.  If you google Hunter clogs something should come up.

They are comfortable, but I should have got a bigger size because I need to wear two pairs of socks when wearing them as my feet get very cold in them.

yep i dont think thats going to work i will be tripping over my feet as i am only a size 6.5 !!

Clogs are dead easy to slip on and off, but if you have a lot of walking to do they don't half make the back of your calves ache. And your socks get very dirty!

I shop a lot in the local farmer's co-operative, and last year bought wellibobs.  They're a welly ankle boot and are fantastic.

Easy to put on and off, but totally practical for gardening.  I can't remember how much they were, but are worth every penny - I'm like you and find that my wellies are a bit clip round the calves - especially with thick socks and jeans.

Another idea anyway  :)

Screwfix does the ones that can be cut down. These have ribs around the top for this purpose.

saw some ankle high "Tom Joules" in the garden centre yesterday and thought of you. ive got full hieght joules and I live them.

Wilkies have some gardening clogs for around £5

An elderly person on our allotments uses supermarket plastic carrier bags and post office discarded elastic bands to keep them in place.

That is all I have to add on this subject.
