And what is going to happen to all the those millions and millions of boxes that are made.. ::)...they are selling eggs in dozens all over the EU! ::)..it not just British thing.. ::)

Yesterday when I was behind the counter in our lottie shop..few 'newbies' came to ask some advise what to do/use for different aphids..
My answer was..did you know..if you mix a drop of washing up liquid and teaspoon of cooking oil into litre of water in sprayer..shake it  up and spray the mixture on aphids it will kill them..by doing this you will break the EU law and it is not legal.. ::)...and they were amazed that it was so..of course they promised to go back to their lotties and not use this specific concoction.. ;)
So..of course I warned  them not to use those other illegal things like rhubarb leaves..etc.. ;)
And everybody is happy... ::)

It is of course a bit stupid, but it doesn't have to make much difference - a medium egg is 60g (I think), so instead of buying 6 eggs, you buy 360g of egg. Just like buying a pound of strawberries became buying 454g.

This sounds like a media scare story to me....

Which paper did you read it in? (Let me guess....)

goodlife

I haven't seen that news so I don't know the exact what is the ban for..
so they are not against the quantity in box but it is labeling thing..it have to be by weight..? ::)...just about right.... ::).."darling..would like 60 or 120g of egg for breakfast"...."or should we have whole half dozen..." ::)which..is easier.. ::)

no it's perfectly legal to use those concoctions. What wouldn't be legal would be selling those mixtures for use. GQT used to give such recipes, but then say - obviously I can't recommend you do it (wink, wink). I expect they've stopped doing that now

my fridge has a shelf for eggs - with 11 holes  :D

bazzysbarn

So can you sell them by the box then?   :D

Note it says the ban is on pricing by the dozen, not selling.

I could say 'some people would believe anything', but I won't.

Why do we bother to read such tripe?

When will we have a lobby to go back to £sd?

Ah! that's for when you buy 10 before you've used up the previous ten (one left). I've been buying eggs in ten's for a long time (because they're 99p for ten, whilst a dozen at another place are over £2, the same large eggs).

Forget it. This is just another anti EEC scaremongering scam

Any item can be sold in any quantity.

Eggs are currrently sold in packs of 6,10,12,15,18,24 and 30. (more for catering)

Provided the pricing is clear it is legal.

The price per item, per Kilo, per pound even has to be declared.

There is also a facility to sell mixed sizes as well as a decllaration of small medium or large with eggs.

The main problem people have is finding out which are organic/free range and which are the cheap battery hen produced.

The battery hen eggs are the cheapest and the hens simply do not know any difference, they just lay where ever they are...........

What they are actually fed on is probably more important but there are those who think that chicken welfare should come first.

Main questions. Do you want your eggs

Cheap

Healthy/Organic

or laid by happy hens?

Whatever the story regarding eggs - the EU need to keep their noses out of everybody else's business.  Trying to justify their existence once again.  If they didn't debate such crap they would be out of a job no doubt.
All you do and all you see is all your life will ever be

I understand now! Everywhere else in the world they're saying - how useful, they've put in an extra hole! and here in Britain we say - how rubbish is that! There's one missing!  :D
