Hello all,

I;m growing marmande tomatoes for the first time this year and I've got what looks like a cristate flower. Could someone direct me to a picture of one so I can be sure?

Is that the beefsteak type?

If so, nip it off. The bull dust about them being a funny shape but tasting delicious........Is just that... Total rubbish.....

Put the energy into the proper ones.

all of ours have them on, always do, we leave them on  ;D

Too late! I've already nipped 'em off my Marmandes and Costuluto  ;D

They don't taste better and are often weird shapes which result in dense patches in the fruit. I leave them though, those weird huge twisted fruit appeal to me somehow.

Hello,

It opened today - looks like an epic mutant. I can't see why they would taste any better, but I'm leaving it on. If I get a monster supermarmande tomato, then at least it will be something to scare my colleague with!

most of the 'beefgsteak' types produce cristate flowers, don't nip them off!
You couldn't make it up!

They taste exactly the same as any other tom. If you don't fancy eating them, use them for cooking!

Jeannine

Leave them on, you can get some smashing shapes.
