Quite Grottie.  The chat room is not the place for this.

guess i used wrong time zone conversion chart  since i got my time correct it is 4 pm + now

This is my fault, Plainleaf suggested to me that he could meet me  in the chat room regarding the early tomato setup last week and I said maybe to offer it on the forum as others may be interested.  I meant this sincerely, he agreed to this on the other post  and said he would post a time .I  did not intend for it to cause a problem or embarrassment for any member on the forum .

I don,t see how its your fault Jeanine, if he has something to post or photos to put up about any topic then why the chat room there is plenty of places to start a thread. He has in the past been asked to put up or shut up and to date he has done neither. His last excuse for no photos was that his camera was broke.
As far as i am concerned he is just a bullshitter.
No apologies for the straight talk people but that's how i feel about him.

Jeannine there's certainly no need to apologise!  xx

Unfortunately in the past he has been offensive and threatening to other members which dismayed many of us. On any other forum he would have been banned for such behaviour.
As far as I'm concerned that's not something that can, or should, be forgotten or forgiven.

You misunderstand me.

I am aware of Plainleaf not following through with info and as this was something I was keen to hear about, I told him my interest.

I have to be truthful I wasn't sure he would follow through but believe in giving folks a chance, even if on other occasions they have not been helpful or in fact been difficult, it is not my job to decide why, he gave me a couple of answers on the forum and said that he would send me a picture,  he also offered to meet me in the chatroom to explain it to me in  more detail , I wasn't sure he would go in there but again gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I requested that he post the offer so that other folks could join in ,he agreed to that. So from my point of view, he offered info, he expanded on that, he offered to answer questions to the whole forum and he did in fact send me the picture.  Whatever Plainleaf might have done in the past I make no excuses for but in this instance he followed through exactly as he offered without exception.

He apparently went into the chatroom too early and I missed him. I do believe the chatroom is for just that..and the point was he was going to chat about his tomato method, I fail to see how this could be considered the wrong reason to be there,I just don't understand that.

It is in fact my fault that he was there as it was at my request, and judging by another post it had caused some ...well something and for this I take the blame.

I repeat   I did not want it to cause a problem or embarrassment for any member on the forum ..I will add,on this occasion this includes Plainleaf.

XX Jeannine

Flighty I respect your opinion very much, but I disagree with non  forgiveness , I do believe folks can make amends however I will  continue to disagree with Plainleaf  when need be or in fact tell him off in strong terms if  I think he is out of order but he has been very accommodating on this occasion.

I've not been on here much [as I'm usually out setting up gardens in schools!], but this chap seems very similar to a chap on a forum that I moderate on and yes; he is frequently banned for abusive posts and just keeps coming back.

I didn't know there was a problem with Plainleaf, and as I was interested in how anyone grew their tomatoes and anyone who could give me advice on blight I went into chat last night and found Plainleaf very informative and friendly.

I found the regulars the odd ones as they came into chat en masse more than ever at any one time I would think.  I have to confess to smiling to myself as it all seemed so childish but everyone to their own.

The only thing I would ask is who decides what is talked about in a chat room?  I don't see the harm in a one off discussion on a certain subject especially when it could be a benefit to us growers.  But, I am sure some one will put me right.

SamLouise

As a chatroom belonging to an allotment forum, it was indeed the perfect place for such a discussion.  As long as conversations stay within the rules, the chatroom is there for anybody to talk about anything they like.  I hope this clears things up :)

pookienoodle

I have only been on here a few months but have picked up on the plainleaf2 "story"
I didn't realise the forum even had a chat room until his post. :-[

Georgie

The discussion in the chat room varies greatly according to who is in at the time. Often there are a number of conversations on the go at once and no-one decides the subject, it just happens.  Gardening usually gets a mention either in passing or in detail but it's much more than that - we have a laugh and we support each other in our personal trials and share times of joy.  So it's friendly and fun in the main.  But I stand by my previous post.  The chat room is not the place for people like Plainleaf2 to 'hold court' when his motives for doing so are far from clear and when he has a long history of being (at best) unpleasant and has broken the house rules many times.  I think the reason the chat was so busy last night was because many others shared this view - not because we are 'childish'.
