The chat room is for what anyone wants to chat about. I'm fully aware of plainleaf and his history, but why shouldn't that conversation take place in the caht room which is open for all of us to talk aboout whatever we wish to talk about.

No-one is saying we can't discuss Tomatoes in chat.  But some of us take exception to Plainleaf2.

I think you are missing the point.  Clearly no-one is ever going to like/agree with everyone on a forum or in a chat room.  But I do not see why someone who behaves like plainleaf2 should be encouraged or even allowed to continue posting here.  Why should one individual spoil the forum for the rest of us?

Whilst it may not be the same thing, I only ever used efnet on irc for chat, so I dont understand the chat room thing yet. I could always talk to who I wanted and those who you didn't want could be barred from entering the chat merely by not disclosing the channel you were on.

As for plainleaf2 I have no idea of the history and so I can not judge the person.

However knowledge is power as they say and my personal experience at the risk of offending those here who do know the history is that any knowledge is welcome whoever the source as long as it is factual and not at the detriment of the user.

No, if you don't know the history it's not your fault.  I think those that do are all asking the same question.

Sindbad, no one's history here is hidden, so you could look at Plainleaf's past posts yourself if you wanted to (though I have to say there are probably lots of other things to spend half-an-hour doing...)

And as for 'if he's really that bad' he is now banned from A4A.

Thanks triffid, I didn't know that but I think I do have better things to do than reading peoples history and if they are banned then that is that, everyone should be happy now then and peace reigns once again.

The member's posts history facility is kind of handy sometimes when you remember that one of the clever bods here on A4A (TeeGee, Jeannine and Supersprout all spring instantly to mind    ;) ) said something brilliant about something in particular and the regular search thing doesn't turn it up.    ;D

Grotbag, Georgie: I'm confused about that myself. But I think A4A's chatroom is part of the same system as the forum. I don't know the mechanisms of it (being bit of a numpty about site hosting arrangements), but in the past, when the A4A site has crashed, the chatroom was still open and working.

I think it might be the same as our forum; they stay on once banned until the system kicks them out or they log out......thus they can still post until the banning kicks in - depending on the set up of the forum.
