I`m having to look for a new plot due to our Sec giving  a couple of plots to the local yobs. They are drinking, swearing (we have women as members) firing off guns and using the site for dealing and using drugs They are a proper nuisance and a danger to all. To top it all the Sec has after bringing these idiots onto the site has now resigned and walked away without any notice. I went to see him today and his words to me about the situation was TOUGH. He was supposed to be a friend of mine. He caused the problem on purpose. Plots are trample on and stuff which is now starting to show are ripped up and thrown all over the place. They have shot 5 chickens and a couple of ducks last week - the police don't want to know neither does the council. I have been on the site for 13 years and never have I seen such anarchy it is a total disaster area were once is was a peacefull  and happy site. the trouble is that all the sites in the area are full so I have to wait. I am on the committee and have tried to bring about a bit of law and order but have been threatened to be put into hospital. Its a total nightmare and I have had enough.

If the police don't want to know about firearms being discharged in public places then the local media certainly will. Once it is in the papers & on the local news action will be taken quickly.

this makes very sad reading,my heart goes out to you.
are you members of the NSALG? i know i may sound like a stuck record for always banging on about them, but they are there to help us plotholders,so give them a shout.let me know if you need contact details. i doubt that you are the only one that feels this way about your situation, can you try going en masse to either the council/police/local paper?
good luck and i hope this gets resolved soon,i would hate to think of you leaving after so many years of hard work
when the going gets tough, the tough go digging

caroline7758

That's terrible! Hope something gets done so that you don't have to be forced out by these people.

gaz2000

terrible situation :(

all i can suggest is that yourself and as many other plot holders complain together to the police, council, enviromental health.

if complaints come in by a few or many then its more likey action will be taken.also i would suggest getting some video footage of not only the thugs activities as you mentioned, but also the damage made to peoples crops and equipment.keep going and dont let them win.get these kids banned from the allotments and surrounding areas

the ex secretary sounds like a right  tool to be honest, invites the scum in then has it on his toes, sad news  >:(

Sorry to hear this Powerspade. It seems so unfair that you are being made to move after being on the site for a long time. I can't understand why none of the authorities are willing to intervene. Surely, people that have a tendency to violence and disrespect of other's property should be brought to task and evicted. I do hope that someone steps in and sorts this dreadful mess on your and other plotholder's behalf. The police turning a blind eye to drug dealling doesn't sit well for me.  :(

If the police wont respond call the rspca about the bird shootings.

Dial 999 - say you feel threatened

Discharging firearms all over the place and the police don't want to know? There's an election coming up so a strong letter either to your local MP if they're standing, or a decent candidate if they aren't, might well get results. They don't want letters of complaint from such people.

amphibian

Dial 999, they can't ignore you then.

Try your local politicians, ask them that if they got in "What would be their approach to drug taking on (council) allotments ?

Jeannine

I agree, dial 999, tell them you heard shouting, then gun shots, then the shouting stopped.

I would also go to your local MP.

If there are women on the site I wold get them to complain..feel threatened etc.

My final bit of advice which is really important...find out who is your head boy in the police force and ask for an appt with him, ( I have done this and it works a treat) If he refuses or rather his secretary does, I would say very politely you have no option but to go to the papers because of his refusal to discuss a serious problem with you.If you get to the head bod, request he do something..in a voice that presumes he will..eg " how quickly can you get to this as you are concerned about the women and children who are on site"  rather than " what can you do" I think this should get the ball moving.

Good Luck, don't let the rotters get to you, they have big mouths  but you have brains,,you will win!!

We once spotted someone with a gun outside the flats, phoned the police, and they had plainclothes guys poking around in ten minutes.

How did you know they were plainclothes police and not just more gangsters ?

Thxs for your support. I never thought of contacting my MP Now that's a good idea especially with a election coming. I`ll have to find out who He is lol as we have`nt see him for at least 10 years. We used to have Ted Rowlands now he was a great guy and never lets me down but the new one well as we say down this way Hes a "toop `n doll" in other words "THICK", mind you He was`nt that thick as He was involved in the expenses scandal and milked the system for thousands. As far as the police goes we only see the police when the Bill come on the TV. I have already contacted the RSPCA.

why didn't you think of this? don't you take any interest in local politics? Your MP is there to serve you! contact them via http://www.writetothem.com/
he/she should get back to you asap. (mine does)
You couldn't make it up!

Pesky Wabbit

Your councilers may also be standing for election and may be more interested in local issues.

Parlaiment has been dissolved, that website no longet provides a name to write to and wont until after the election.

coznbob

Hope you can get it sorted, please don't let them bully you off your own plot, try other plot holders and get the police involved, they surely won't say who contacted them in a situation such as this ???
Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

PIGEON

Sorry to hear your plight.  As likely as not, the guns in question will be air rifles (NOT firearms).  This is probably why the Police are not interested.

If you contact BASC, they should be able to help.  Have you any idea who owns the land, our allotments are owned by the local farmer.  I would have thought the use of Air rifles would be illegal as Firearms certainly are restricted within 50 yards of a public right of way.

Cheers
