Took the dogs for a walk this morning enjoying the winter wonderland and bang ...........fell down flat on my front.

Hurt my knee and by a miracle just managed to stop my face smashing into the ground, almost lost my teeth.

My dogs ran back to me and would not leave me till I got myself back on my feet so special treat for them.

Take care out there...............

Hi Betula-was about to post something similar after nearly going over twice (once forwards, once nearly went onto my BS!) on the school run. The pavements here in Staffs are like glass.  :(
Bless your dogs!  :) Hope your knee has no lasting damage.
Don't throw paper away. There is no away.

Not too bad here in sunny London but very cold at 8:00am on me bike!!  :o
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

My car says -6, that's in Manchester.
The snow has frozen, so you can hear the cars crunching over it.  Better than skidding on flat ice, I suppose.

Hiya Denise

Glad you aren't badly damaged!

I fell over in the woods on the first day of this cold spell.  Both my dogs buggered off and I was left on the ground on my butt and had a major panic attack!!!

My phone, had I needed it, would not have worked as there is no signal in the woods!  Luckily I was up and back to the car without any real damage.  Dogs reappeared half way down - but I will never trust them to be "there when I need them"! Then, at work, a couple of days later, just going home and in the car park went down again, on the derriere again!!

It is only just getting so I can move without pain!  As an "old bird" we don't bounce as easily as we used to!

Take care.

I am risking life & limb everyday to feed the chicks across the road. I even went to the shop today to buy them some porridge oat as they don't like pinhead. I am loving it though & think I might have been bitten by the chook bug. Watch this space ;).
Hope Old Bird & Betula are soon recovered.

Hope Betula and Old Bird are not feeling too much pain now.  I chickened out of walking my dogs this morning and they don't seem too bothered.

A friend fed my allotment cat today, so I didn't even go over there.

We have some lovely sunshine at the moment here in Birmingham, but it's still freezing cold.

I'm practically housebound at the mo  :-\
Anyway, hope your knees not too painful, betula and all of you, old bird..my mum used to say 'it always hurts worse when you're cold, -7 overnight here, just about struggled to 0 by 2 pm, dropping again now  :)

Hope knees are ok. Those shoe grips look a jolly good idea, might have to invest in some as I know that will prevent any more falls of snow down here for ever!

It worked for about 5 years, maybe its time I upgraded to the heavy-duty jobbies!

Our lousy council doesnt grit any of the pavements and I feel really sorry for old folk who darent go out and dont have internet access to order their food online. Someone in our local paper complained to them about not gritting the car parks and was told that the grit represented a hazard, which they could be sued for if someone injured themselves on it. The ice, I assume is an act of God... (I despair)

manicscousers

just had another snowfall over the ice, forecast -4 here tonight  :o

Wasn't - isn't - there a byelaw that sates everyone has to clear the front of their property.  Years ago people used to clear the frontages but nowadays.  Say you could be sued or something.  Other countries you are prosecuted if you don't clear your frontage.  Wish they would od it here I'm fed up of being flat on my back

There certainly used to be. Trouble is, as soon as I clear the snow and ice away more falls. :'( :'

My in-laws use to allways sweep the snow and put grit down out the front of there shop but then last winter a council bloke told them that if some one was to slip where they cleared the snow and gritted they would be liable  ::) so they don't do it any more.

We've had to grit our drive, as it is almost vertical, and also did the pavement outside our house as well as that is on a hill.  The rest of the road is lethal, though.  >:( >:( >:(
