been posting on this site since sept 2008, and after 13 months i still cant work out how to do a QUOTE    must be thick or what

Not at all, all sites differ.  Here you need to click on the 'quote box' which appears to the right of the message pane just under the title of your thread.

Ah I see the problem.

After the quote you need to 'return' a couple of times and then type.  :)

And if you don't want your added bit to be in the box, type it after [/quote] ;)

Jim, here's another approach that will accomplish what you want; just replace the curly brackets I'm using for demo purposes with square ones.

{quote}"What I want to quote." {/quote}

Replace the curly's with square and the above displays as...

Quote"What I want to quote."

The code actually looks like ...


[quote]"What I want to quote." [/quote]


... so, when you open a quote type ... [quote] ... and close the quote type ... [/quote].


Feel free to throw something large and heavy if I've simply confused you.  :'(
