I am going to try Okra for the first time, I know I like to eat it.

I will give Aubergines one last go I have only ever managed one fruit in 3 years.

I will NEVER grow asparagus peas again they were disgusting tasting and wasted a raised bed. They were only edible when tiny and too laborious too pick enough and over 1 inch in length were woody like old runner beans.

This is my first year of cropping the asparagus after a long wait.

failed with yardlong beans last year will try again this yr

for the first time i will be trying to grow:

celeriac
romanesco
turnips
oka
ulluca
Jerusalem artichokes
globe artichokes
sea kale
parsnips
brussel sprouts
cabbage,
cauliflower

scorzonera

those that are underlined have never been eaten by myself or the family and i want to see if we would like them, if yes it will give us more winter crops.

and those in bold are vegetables that are not normally enjoyed by us and i would like to see if this will change if they are homegrown and picked fresh for the pot.

i live in hope :).

NOOOO, am I going to really regret this, I am going to grow Asparagus Peas!   what about pea asparagus? :o :o :o sounds better. Seriously what does it need to get the best out of them

saddad

They make a beautiful edging plant, interesting leaves and growth habit, lovely dark red flowers... they just don't make good eating...  :-\

beckydore

We had romanesco for the first time at Christmas as I thought it looked quite unusual and a bit Christmassy green and spikey! My boyfriend looked at it and thought I was crazy for buying it.
Must look out for some seeds!

Kids have requested: cabbage, peas, raspberries and carrots!!!!
Tried carrots last year with no success, probably going to be in pots! We have strange kids - visiting the supermarket they ask for cabbage, squash or prawns not sweets!!!

Am going to get the whole allotment going this year, so more spuds, but also going to set up a fruit patch with currants and raspberries (already got strawberries), beetroot - given some by one of the oldboys, they were fab, nothing like the pickled to death things I remember!!! Got lots of different types of squash.

Got some asparagus seeds I'm going to start - am nowhere near ready to plant them on the lottie, so thought I might as well start completely from scratch!! Also trying sweet potato.

springbok

Less than last year :)

Being a first timer I was way over excited with growing anything.

This year:

Sowing later than last year!!! :)

PJW_Letchworth

I'm going to try turnips, stripy beetroot and aubergines.
