I have recently come across dead frogs in both my garden and pond. I do not use slug pelletts or chemicals of any sort so cannot understand why this has happened! Anyone any ideas please?

Probably a disease called 'red leg' that is spreading all over the UK.

Just read that on a website.

Shame though, we need the frogs.

Thanks for your reply Carol I shall certainly look that info up. Unfortunately I found more dead frogs today! :'(

Hope you found the website ok Gardenqueen, here is one anyway with lots of info and advice.

I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Ranavirus is typically a disease of hot weather, so this doesn't sound like it at first sight. If you can get specimens to Froglife they may be able to help.

Thank you Star for that website, very interesting. Robert I read that Froglife would be interested in any specimens, but unfortunately the ones I have already found I have disposed of. However should I come across any more (god forbid!) I shall certainly contact them.
