I have tried a biscuit tin, a tupperware box... but find it hard to control what I have grown and what I need to grow.

I like to be organised!! :D

What do you use to store seeds in?

Hi Springbokgirlie, i use the tried and tested sweet tin, it's a great excuse for buying more sweets, so you can be more organised of course! Failing that... you can get carry cases that are normally used for storing screws, nails, etc etc from most DIY stores.  :)
Thas a rummun !!

.....and paper CD sleeves for the saved seed.
If I ever get it all right - then that's the time to quit.

Hi Springbokgirlie,  :)

I use old coffee tins because they are mouse proof. I organise the tins by catagories such as; leaf veg, root veg, squash and relatives, beans and peas, herbs, flowers, etc.

And by thoughts of you...

Put a "wanted" post on your local Freecycle Spring - might be some out there.  Mine were from the days before computers  ::)

In a shoe box, in alphabetical order & then in a wicker box in my bedroom.

Salad drawer in the fridge. It's full, so some end up in the door too.  :)
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Wow thats some seed filing system!

I do mine in a4 envelopes according to month of sowing. Then at the begining of the month i have a to sow box, as I sow then they go back into that months envelope and then i freeze the envelopes that won't be used for ages.

Magnolia

Mine are in translucent takeaway containers with the month of sowing written on the side.  Mouse proof!

Barnowl

Mine are in those folders with lots of transparent sleeves meant for storing CDs

Tins,I love tins so happy to have a use for them.

Tins also keep the seeds dry. :)

Mine are in a dvd storage box (bit like a shoe box only stronger and better shape) I have filing cards to fit with the month on and file the seeds by the first month they can be sown and move them forward if i haven't sown them yet....resort back to start when their sowing period is over. The rest of my house, shed etc is totally disorganised...except books. In fact more than disorganised.....more mess.

sawfish

I keep mine in a deep old wooden cutlery box with a hinged lid. I find wood doesnt heat up as much as metal and keeps more of a constant cool temperature inside even if my hut is warm.

Those are beautiful old filing cabinets Deb P.

I wonder if one of those metal CD boxes might be of any use to you Springbokgirlie? The ones thet look like old camera cases you get for about £15 and have loads of alphabetical sleeves inside?
