At last some good weather! Yesterday was hot but rather overcast but today is bright sun and high 20s!!! Yes, just what the doctor ordered for the tomatoes, peppers and squash!
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Blighty weather, very warm and humid but at least it's not raining  ;D

Robert_Brenchley

Major thunderstorm. Let's hope the plot's not flooded!

marlin vs

Thunder and lightening plus 50 mm of rain overnight.

elhuerto

I wouldn't normally post here as you expect Spain to be pretty warm in the Summer but this morning at 7.30 it was 25º when I went down to the allotment and 30º just before 9 when I came back. Temperatures reached 37º yesterday and are supposed to be higher through til Sunday. It's pretty unpleasant, too hot to sleep at night and too hot to go out during the day.

I've seen two bush fires from my office window in the last week, fortunately both on the horizon but weeks since the last rainfall and the high temperatures, the risk is extremely high here.
Location: North East Spain - freezing cold winters, boiling hot summers with a bit of fog in between.

Very warm and humid here too in Hampshire. I think a storm might be on the way.
dont be fooled by the name I am a Lady!! :-*

We've had RAIN...not not a just a drizzle..more of heavenly waterfall..no dam bursted sort of rain.. ::) Well..streets are now cleaned and plants watered.. ::)
I wonder where all this rain is going to end up..it was 'tons' of it that came down in a hour.

I'm not envious of Elhuerto's situation neither..drowning or burning..which is worst?.. :-\

Digeroo

Very hot and humid here, but no rain.  We normally have considerably less rain than wimbledon, it should be relocated. ;D

daveylamp993

One of our plotholders said that the weather here in Birmingham this morning reminded him of the monsoon season in Singapore  :o

:o :o :oThat is terrible will they survive?

Robert_Brenchley

I hope so! It drains off quite quickly, but the problem is that my plot slopes away from the stream, which is an old mill leat, towards the natural course. So it drains slowly, and it's the waterlogging which causes the damage. Hopefully it'll drain fast enough not to do too much harm. Mostly things survive, but they may not necessarily grow any more due to root damage.

Ninnyscrops.

Hot and sticky, a big black cloud threatened my washing about 2'ish but disappeared without as much as a trickle.

Forecast seems to be rain on Saturday, great for the cricket males in the household  ::), but as long as Sunday is dry, hubby and I will be at The Oval watching England-v-Oz  :)

OMG,, :o That is well watered crop... :o Did you get that horrid huge hail too?
Luckily broadbeans are quite tough and if all that surface water will drain away in couple of days..I suspect they are not effected in anyway.
And I thought we had it bad.. ::) I've been on lottie this afternoon and nothing seem to be soggy at all...just avenues where cars can get has 'rivers' running in tyre ruts.

Quite a nice day here in preston, allthough the wind has got up, but its dry and warm so that's all that matters at this moment.
