at today's allotment show for Top Gardener and Biggest Pumpkin, really chuffed!  The pumpkin came in at just over 9 stones, I would love to see what it would have reached left until October.  The only trouble with them is they are very tactile, it felt just like my cellulite. :(
Question...Can  i use the seed from this? Do I take it out now?

What's the secret to growing them so big so quickly?

Is it a trade secret??  ;)

Dont forget to save the seed as i am sure you will be able to get an even bigger pumpkin next year :-)

Congrats  ;D

Wow! that's a biggie :o Congratulations Tilts. Don't know the answer to your question, I'm sure someone who does will be along shortly. ;)
Smile, it confuses people.

The pumpkin needs tio be fully mature to save seeds and it is better to leave them in the pumpkin for about a month, don't take them out now.

When you do, wash them off, then put them to dry, don't pack them till completely dry or they will go mouldy. They are dry when they snap when you try to bend them. Pack them into a airtight jar with silica gel to finish drying if you plan to save them for long.

You didn't say what kind of pumpkin it is.

Well Done XX Jeannine

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Well done Tilts, that comfortably beats us - we just got a bronze in the best plot out of the 120.

Didn't even know we'd won it until a neighbour wandered past and said I'd obviously bribed the judges ;D

Actually, on our allotments, I think the best allotment competition is biased in favor of newcomers to encourage us (I can think of at least five plots close by, let alone elsewhere on the site that are way better than ours) but that's not a bad thing is it?

tilts

i will upload a pic of the plot later, luckily this achievement wasn't based on a tidy plot, this year has been hellish trying to keep up with the four plots as well as working full time and of course the weather which has done it's best with warmth and the wet stuff to encourage weeds.  This year is my third entry into the show and i realise i am getting quite competitive year on year, is this a good thing or bad thing ~ should this be a new thread? ;)
