push-pull hoes

Have been searching for a thread on these hoes. The stirruphoes site mentioned in 2005 seems to be defunct. Can anyone recommend a good one that's not too expensive?

See what you mean by the expense! But I would be lost without mine.

The only hoeing it is NOT good at is flat tufts of grass, ie chopping, or going around the back of things. The pull bit is so much easier than the push bit!

I use the Wolf push/pull hoe and love it. I bought mine whilst in France for about £8...they seem to be around £14 in the UK.

I've used the Wolf version for over 4 years and it beats everything else! I found that a gentle suggestion when birthday/Xmas is approaching always works wonders!! ;D ;D ;D

Me too. I have a few other attachments too, including the Dutch hoe, the 3-pronged cultivator thing. At one of the shows, I bought a small kit with the small handle and tools for the flower bed.

Hayes garden centre have an offer- buy 2 wolf heads and get the handle free. I spent ages yesterday trying to persuade myself there was a head other than the push-pull hoe that I needed- and failed! May go back, though- I could even get the small and large push-pull heads! I've got garden vouchers left from my birthday, too, so it wouldn't really cost me anything.

My very kind lottie neighbour let me borrow his push/pull hoe at the weekend when I turned up bemoaning having to use my usual one.  I have to say it was absolutely magic!   I whizzed through my weeding in next to no time.   Its my birthday in a few weeks time and I will be asking for ...........

I have a winged weeder that I bought from GWL a few years ago. I found it useful to weed my gravel paths at home, not so good for general use in raised beds as I'm not careful enough and keep 'nicking' the base of plants with the sharp pointy bits! ::)
