I was interested to see this thread.

I have a fig tree on my windowsill, and was amazed to see it producing fruit this year too.  I never thought it would.
I dont have a clue what variety of fig it is as the plant was given to me as a cutting by my neighbour,  but it looks identical to yours.  Do you know which variety yours is?

Just out of interest,  I gave mine a hard prune over winter, and the fruits are all on the new growth.  I hope they ripen indoors,  but im not holding my breath!

Would be good to see yours later in the season so i can compare to mine ;)

I think that usually the edible fruit grows from small cherry sized fruit left on the tree the previous year. But with warmer weather there's a chance edible fruit will form and ripen in the same year.

Sure somone will correct me if I'm wrong.

By the way, they like a lot of water ....

Naturally they fuit three times a year. The winter crop being the poorest. We get one in mid to late August outdoors. Any minifigs starting when the leaves drop should be knocked off and it will start forming fruit the minute the weather warms up. If you don't then the frost kills them but it doesn't start the next lot until they drop so the new ones may not get long enough to ripen fully. It works for me.

Watch that lowest one Manics it is yellowing too soon so will probably drop off...

right, I'll take it off and hope the others are ok..it's brown turkey, supposedly ok for northern climes..we also pruned back to the 'pea sized ones in autumn..and covered with fleece when it got really cold..we're just winging it, really  ;D
it's also on a south facing fence, quite sheltered
