oops i think i made a boo boo!

good evening all, i need a little advice this afternoon i decided that my 4 chilli plants were to big to in the same pot so i repoted them but i think the compost was to damp coz within 15minutes they had started to fall over and the leaves rolled up  :'(. oh poo i thought so i took them back out and put them into some dryer compost, its been a few hours now and there hasnt been any improvement will they survive or have i murdered what were lovely little plants?

seven leaves they are indoors on windowsill. but how can tell about what root system they have?

Roots? Thought that when you re-potted, you would have taken them out singly?

Did you hold them only by their leaves??

It will take any plant a day or so to re-establish contact wth it's new environment. Especially if it suffered shock.

Don't worry,
                    leave them and in the morning they will be normal, its just a shock for them, trust me ;D

Heehee plantslaughter.....i always feel like that when removing seeding. Probably why I have 25 tom plants now growing in my kitchen!

Yes same here.

Hate to waste the seedlings...   although what I am going to do with 30 odd gardeners delight tomatoes, I don't know.

Still, kids school said that they would like some ;D

good news my chillis seem to have perked up today, still a little droopy but they seem much happier, thank goodness i thought i might never sleep again!!! ;D ;D ;D

Not laughing @ you, you understand, just empathy !

All my seedlings do really well right up until the time I separate and transplant them, and then I watch with fingers (and everything else crossed) to see if I've committed murder too !

I transplanted about 30 toms at the weekend and there's a couple that look worse for wear at the weekend.  I've had them out in the heated g/h ever since, but was wondering whether I should bring them in doors so I can keep a better eye on them.  Only thing that worried me about that was lack of light.  Still I may consign all the trays of annuals that are currently indoors to the unheated g/h and bring my babies in.

like everyone else, i have far too many on the go, but the pain of losing even one, would be just too much for my conscience to bear !

My masterplan was to have two successful plants of each variety, so if they all succeed I'll be swimming in tomatoes, but evenso, I'd hate to lose ANY.

oh dear just went to water my onion seedlings and i knocked over one of my precious chillies, compost everywere including all over my just done washing up! no offence to anyone  but i think im having 'a blonde day' or maybe week!  :-[

oh i have just sewn some cucumbers was a little worried it might be a tad early it said april on the packet but today is a good day for cues in the moon calander  :D ;)

Glad to hear that your chilli plants seem to be perking up.  My DH has also bumped a tray off the window sill and also had compost everywhere.  Now he very gingerly opens the blinds every morning making extra sure he has not caught the edge of one of the trays.

I saw in the last Gardeners World that one of the students planted by the moon calendar and definitely had larger crops.  If you don't mind me asking, what else does the moon calendar say it good to plant today - as cucumbers and pumpkins / squash are similar ? are'nt they ? 

I am also getting a tad nervous as I have not even planted one tomatoe plant yet.  Most people on the board say it is still too early but I think this week-end I am going to have to give in and plant my tomato seeds. So when is good for tomatoes?

i planted my toms today they are being kept indoors for a while yet so they should be ok (fingers and toes crossed!) but i also have an advantage living on the isle of wight the weather tends to be a little warmer here. as for the moon planting i think there is definetly something init although it can be a bit complicated to follow, i use
