Started these leek a few weeks ago and since I didnt do very well last year with leeks I'm worried about these ones.

They are in a garage next to a window with a bubble wrap covering.

I was going to let them grow on till transplanting but what do you think?

Mine are still doubled over, so you're well ahead of me Chris !

I did a Carol Kleine on mine though and chucked loads in a bucket !  I'll separate them when they're pencil thick and plant them then (hopefully on the lottie!!!!).

Glad you posted that pic. thought I had done something horribly to mine!
They look exactly the same :)
Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

They look fine. Mine aren't even in yet. I don't plant until I'm satisfied that spring has irrevocably sprung.

saddad

I have a greenhouse shelf full of them, waiting for pricking out tomorrow... can get them outside earlier than other stuff so will be doing a couple of hundred for the plant sale!
;D

Better than mine. Mine are still in the seed packet. ;)

Chris i'm so glad you posted that, i was beginning to worry about mine, and they're identical to yours.  They seem way too tall don't they?!  :o

Thanks for the reassurance  :-*
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

Yeh i thought they were too tall as well!

Glad they are ok, quite attached to the wee fellows.

They look fine to me.

The bend or crook is normal, all I would do is turn the tray daily so that they are not drawn over to the light.

Like KTL mines are still in the packet.

Laney

Well, they look exactly like mine, which I started a week and a half ago, but I've never grown them before.  It looks like we have normal leeks! ;D

Mine are in my New Cold Frame will they be OK  ??? ???

Just great, Chris - but you do NOT have to wait for 'pencil thickness' before doing anything - even planting out.

carolinej

I usually plant out well before pencil thickness, as I would rather them in the ground a bit thinner, than a bit squashed in a pot of compost that has probably had all the goodness used up. Saying that, I never grow huge leeks. Maybe I am wrong.

Last year, I tried putting some in at 2 per hole. They were only slightly thinner than the ones that went in singularly, so I will be doing that again this year. Less space and less work!

and, baby leeks cost more than ordinary ones !!  ;D
