Foxes

Do you all having problems with foxes on the allotment and doing there business over your veg? What do you do when this happens?

I sowd some little gem they are just coming through and foxy has been there and left its mark. I decided today to cover my radish & beetroot incase this happens again but hubby said don't worry wash well.

my chap sounds like he smokes 40 marlboroughs, (got a wicked cough!) and lays on my pathways and fleeced beds! But I figure I am in his patch, so he can do what he likes, and maybe he is fertilising them for me  :o :-\! ::)
But  stuff I want him to stay off I put twigs etc. on , the same as you would do to keeps cats off.

If you stand clear plastic bottles filled with water around the area you want to keep the fox away from the reflections will move him on. Even at night if the moon shines it works.

I live opposite a wood where foxes live. My 'plottie' is in my garden. To great effect, the years that foxes are a problem (and this year is one of them) I do this..I've a bundle of kindling sticks which I soak in Renardine (something like that)....they then get posted all over my veggie beds. The smell is not nice - I don't like it, but there again, nor do the foxes. Or the neighbourhood cats :D It's already working v. well, even despite the rain. I'll continue doing it til the fox gets the message.

I've been told that you can "mark" your own territory, if you get my drift. This keeps them away. Apparently

I like foxes; before the mange hit, I occasionally had them trot straight past me when I was on the plot, and once I had a couple of cubs playing on it. I'd never do anything to discourage them; if they do dig a bit or poo on my beds now and then, it's worth it for the rodents they kill.

I get fox poo on my plot.  My only problem is the dog likes to roll in it. The foxes control the rabbits on our site.

Redclanger does it not worry you eating lettuces etc that they have pooed near?

Yesterday I put down pepper on the soil near my salad stuff so hopefully they will have a sniff and sneeze and run off.

It hasn't been a (visible) issue but if the poo was on top of (or very near to) the plant, I might just turn my nose up but otherwise, not a problem really.  I think we can get a little bit too worried about these things.
