I know I am!  >:(

Had a lovely day out in the garden yesterday, but didnt manage to finish all i wanted to get done. Was hoping to get out today (or at least this morning before forecast rain came).  But NO! the rain came early so i am now stuck indoors wondering what useful things i can be doing (but instead sitting in front of the PC on A4all  ;D).

Whats the weather doing elsewhere? Anyone got outside or are we all confined to barracks?  ???

Lousy here too Richard, I was going to go up to my plot and do loads of stuff, but now wading my way through paperwork, housework, and trying to keep 2 kids away from the TV! But as you can see, I am managing to nip in and out of A4All!!  Hopefully next week will be an improvement :-)  (whilst sorting out my mountain of paperwork I managed to find more seeds, so the day can have a little gardening in it ;) ) Dottie P.

No pleasing some folk??

You've had a wonderfully long dry spell, which let you get everything ready, and now you got the much needed moisture.

And a4a to look at. Many haven't! SO? Try the north of Scotland. = Tim

well its dry but looks like its going to rain so i am working today so i can have an afternoon off during the week (preferably tomorrow) to mess about down the allotment.

its supposed to be dry and fairly warm this week up north...

Dull and windy here, and that`s just me ;)-heaters on constantly in both greenhouses. But overall all my babes are looking strong and healthy.

..doing the ironing, 'cos it raining and cold and blowy in West London....

If I could find the last few raspberies in the freezer I'd make raspberry cake .... but I can't see them anywhere...Blast!   >:(

Mrs Ava

Just started to rain now at 1.45 in Essex, but it has been very blowey all day.  Ava is out on his bike  :-\ so the kids and I have been out in the garden until the rain came.  Got a few more seeds in  :D so am happy, and lots and lots germinating.  Sweetpeas, broadbeans, caulis, chards...alsorts, so that was good.  I am determined not to do the ironing so sorted out my seed box so I know what I still have to sow in the greenhouse, what is already done, and what will be sown on site.  Cor, the wind is blowing...will be glad when Ava gets home. :-[

Mimi

Dull, drizzly and howling wind here in North Wales.  However just got back in from Holyhead and was clear blue sky and windy there so maybe better weather by this afternoon.  Just checked the weather report and yes will clear by.......6pm.  Just in time for it to go dark b****** :-X
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

All plans I made for this weekend fell into the water! Yesterday and today, off and on rain and wind all the time. Been holed up doing little chores around the house, some reading, some compi stuff and checking on my seedlings every hour orso hahaha.

Very good Tim   :D

So what have YOU done today (gardening-wise i mean).

It has now dried up here, but far too late and of course the garden is still sodden.

never mind i spent the afternoon transplanting seedlings, so not a complete waste of time  ;)

Mrs Ava

Hoorah, Ava home safe and sound and whilst he fed and bathed the little 'uns I got down to the greenhouse and got lots of seeds planted and all watered.  So, even with the rain, I had quite a successful day in the garden.  ;D

gavin

Foul weather - cold and wet.

And what did we find when the sun broke through for half an hour?  Last year's happy little friends are back.  Two of the older guys have had fences and cold frames smashed.  We've lost half the kale, and two beautiful plants of white sprouting broccoli - heads cut down and trampled into the soil.

*fatherless children*.

Gavin

Mimi

Oh Gavin poor you.  I just dont know how you can put up with it.  Maybe some Army surplus land mines around the edge of the lottie would do the trick.   >:( ::)

I'll tell you wharidid! I fitted a new carb., shipped over from the Excited States via e-bay for my troublesome 6h.p. rotavator and annoyed the neighbours by firing it up first time!
Now my two mega allotments have been rough dug, I can now go and sort a seed bed - or a hundred - out!
I'm a happy bunny!

campanula

ah gavin - what a bummer! read about some chap 'arresting' a hoolie with a garden fork - makes you wantto lie in wait with a bloody great Black Widow catapult. and broccoli too, even worse cos it stands in the groundfor so long and it must have been almost perfect.
little sods. so sorry for you and your children.

not sick of this weather! the one advantage of having a tiny back yard surrounded by 8' walls is no wind - i had my tea outside last night - and this morning its blue skies and sun! i really would rather go down the lottie than work!

Richard - the only answer is to just garden, no matter the weather (well - unless it's a hurricane or something!) I always find I get so into gardening that I forget/don't notice what the weather is doing (I didn't even notice the hail last week!)

You can't do anything about the weather, but you can change the way you feel about it...
gone to pot :D

Poor Gavin  - and all those others who suffer that. Weather , cats, the HUNT! etc are bad enough, but vandals.....!

Join the club. though, on sprouting - ours went into soft ground, collapsed in full flow, and the remaining roots couldn't cope with that long dry period. Oh, well, next year............!

BTW - snow forecast?? = Tim

Hmm good Idea Aqui.  Trouble is though some things you cant do in the rain, like dig heavy soil or sow seed, in other cases the rain makes the tools slippery to hold. Apart from this though you are right it is all about positive thinking. If you ignore the rain or the cold then that is half the battle with many jobs in the garden. I should really try it sometimes  ;D
