leaf mould

I have found that "Red Baron " are quite strong, but if you check the set or seed packets they will tell you the strength, wether mild or strong flavoured. People do have different tastes, what you consider strong another might feel is mild and so on , catch my drift, good luck, why not try a few.

Strongest ones I've grown were red too, forgot the name.

May have said this before, but the red ones make a lovely tarte tartin!  = Tim

Normally the smaller the onion the stronger the flavour.

I have often thought of it this way;

Every variety of onion has the same amount of 'flavour' in it, meaning that if you grow an extra large one, the flavour is diluted by the additional water within the onion.

Well it is a thought  ???

I like stuttgarter giant (gives a kind of flattened onion) and sturon (a round onion) - and both have cropped and kept well.

Good luck, Gavin

Mrs Ava

Good, thats what I like to hear Gavin as that is what I am growing.   ;D

tim

The 'flat bottomed brigade' obviously don't do the cooking?? = Tim

gavin

Oh yes he does, Tim!  :)  But not whole, granted.

All best - Gavin
