This thread is definitely deteriorating!

Confucius he say:-

" support bacteria - the only culture some people have"

;D ;D ;D
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven: a time to be born and time to die: a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted.     Ecclesiastes, 3:1-2

1. Sow seed with a waxing, never a waning moon
2. Incorporate scrapings of topsoil from below pines and spruces when planting, and then mulch with pine and spruce needles, crushed fir cones and even twigs to improve the strawberries’ flavour
3. Plant marigolds in the flower and vegetable garden and greenhouse
4. Grow foxgloves in your garden to stimulate growth and disease resistance among your other plants5. A single clove of garlic planted beside a rose will keep greenfly away from the plant
6. Bananas planted under roses will ensure strong, healthy plants
7. Pour left over tea into your houseplants
8. The liquid run-off from compost heaps, known as ‘compost tea’ helps keep plants healthy

Have I redeemed myself??

Not really sure about how folk lorey some of these are but they are on the RHS site as floklore.

QuoteWell it doesn't rhyme, but my lil ol man says always bung a rabbit carcase into the planting hole of a Rhodie or Azalea......
~ if you don't have a carcass handy & want to make your soil more acidic you can water them with dilute vinegar-4tbsp of vinegar into a pint of water-once a month durning the growing season or you can add coffee grounds to the soil to make it more acidic

Mrs Ava

If you want your hydrangea to turn blue, bung a handful of rusty nails into the bottom of the planting hole.

Or will that make it pink...........
no blue, I'm sure blue............

Oh, and lottie, never put a slug in your sock!

undercarriage plan

Ooo yes EJ!! How could I have forgotten that!! Right, think these are the main 3 from East Anglia

Never put  a frog in a bucket
Never put a worm on your head
Never put a slug in your sock

And of course, never put a ferret in a in a teapot.....

And Max, it's not hard, don't put a worm on your head..... ::) ::) ::) ;)

Max, worms live in the soil..... ::) so they're not going to be happy living on your head are they......!!!! Though from what you've said about the visitors in your hair at the min.....I may well have to rethink this cunning Suffolk saying.... :-X
