No.1 son just came in with the frying pan flipping his first pancake of the evening, this is likely to be a long session with the maple syrup bottle ... He deserves it, as he's giving up meat AND fish for Lent from tomorrow til Easter :o

Bah humbug -seem to have titally lost the knack of pancake tossing -whilst t'other half was getting them to do triple somersalts.

Filling was nice though -left over chicken & ham with left-over onion and some spinach, cheese and mushrooms. Even the wine was lleft over -very appropriate.

Promised the kids, so after their baths we made a batch, eggless of course so slightly thicker than traditional, but still delish with lemon and sugar for number one daughter, golden syrup and sugar for number one son, butter and golden syrup for number one husband and maple syrup for me!

I love them savoury and used like cannalloni, rolled with rich tomato and mince sauce, covered in cheese sauce and baked until hot and bubbly!

jennym

We had "healthy" ones - with a filling of banana, mango and orange - was a real hit! (just the tiniest hint of syrup over the top of course  ;D)

Doris_Pinks

Rolled up with a filling of chicken n veg, sauce over the top and then baked, we had em for puds too! :o Youngest and myself lemon and sugar, eldest chopped up chocolate and cream! ::)
We don't inherit the earth, we only borrow it from our children.

OH made the pancakes last night.  Rolled them up, drizzled with lemon.  I took one but heck no sweetening in it.  No syrup or sugar, just bloomin' lemon.  Then 2 hrs later I had bad indigestion.  Ooo I forgot I get that every year with pancakes.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not really a pancake person myself, and this year I didn't even realise, but if I was pushed, I would choose Emma's savoury pancakes for main course, and jennym's healthy ones for pudding ! That is of course, assuming I was invited to tea!

Had one for my lunch from some of the left over batter from last night.  Had warm syrup and sliced up pears on it, - absolutely yummy.  :D busy_lizzie

Slight diversion - Emma says golden syrup etc. But for batter (pudding = yorkshire) - butter & brown sugar!

We had 2 pancake days as we have the "Gardeners World" calander in our kitchen and it had Shrove Tuesday down on 7th Feb. I didn't realsie till I had already got all the ingredients on the day! Not complaining, We love pancakes.  ;D ;D ;D maple syrup, jam, lemon juice and banana, in a variety of quantities - yum!

Em - how do you make eggless pancakes?????  ???

Mrs Ava

Just leave the eggs out, tis all I do!  I add a teaspoon of bicarb and a dash of lemon juice and make the batter slightly thicker.  Also, cook them slightly more slowely - they are more like the thicker 'silver dollar pancakes' I had in Canada.  MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Just in case you're all worried at my inability to toss pancakes -I did some more on Sat. and tossed every one. Hooray! Iput it down to different styles of cooking them, I wind the ring up as far as it will go whilst the OH takes a more moderate line -as in the rest of life  ;)
