Hi,

Do you reckon if i planted a pumkin seed now it would be ready (and fairly big) to use as a lantern for my kids this halloween?

Anyone know what type i need - would like to use the insides for pie.

Cheers
Liam
Keep getting worried that the stuff I grow will taste nasty - or turn out poisonous!

Liam, I have somepumpkin plants that are 'surplus to requirements' - as usual I went a bit mad with seeds and am rather overrun withthem. theuy  are Ghostrider - large hallowe'en types - good for carving ( see info at the organic gardening catalogue.
I live in Witham, Essex so if you're not to far away we could organise something. I think they're too big to ppost though - they're ready to go in the ground now.

Thats very kind thank you.

I wil pass though as it is difficult for me to travel due to family/work/studying/gardeneing/children - and trying to sort out my new house!

I think i may leave it this year as i already have taken on loads - then get the kids to do their own in time for next year

That's it - next year get the kids to grow them from seed. lots of things for them to enjoy and learn then!
gone to pot :D

Bun

Pop into a few garden centres, I'm sure you'll find some baby plants in there.  :)

Hope I am not too late, as I haven't planted mine yet :o

I shall plant mine tomorrow straight into an area full of well rotted

manure - will I need to put some compost on top of the manure ???

I got given some Butternut Squash yesterday (GWO).  I will be planting them straight into the ground at the weekend - hoping that I too am not too late.  It is unusual for me to direct sow because I am far too weed infested at the moment.
