Dug up these three today.  Lovely spring cabbages with very pointy hearts.  Roast beef on Sunday!  ;D

Looking very nice - love pointy cabbage  :D, cannot stand round cabbage :-X.  What variety are they and when were they sown?

Don't know variety, labels long gone  :-\  I shall have a look in my seed box though to see if I had any seed left.  They were sown late last summer and planted out in early autumn.  Sat looking all forlorn all winter, then went mad and grew grew grew as soon as the weather warmed up!

I think the best way to eat it is to stir fry it in butter and add garlic (I also add fresh chillis).  It has just occureed to me that if I get a cow (for the butter  ;D) I will have produced all the ingredients for one of my favourite side dishes.

I can certainly recommend the pointed cabbage DUNCAN F1.I have grown it for 3 yrs. now as a Summer variety, but the supplier ,Edwin Tucker, also suggests sowing in Autumn for use as a spring cabbage. Lovely colour and flavour.

They look very nice Emma, I love my cabbage infact I love all my veg there was no I do not like this and that when I was a child and I think that is the reason why I like all veg now.

Redclanger try Spring Hero cabbage it is a round variety but as the name suggests it tastes like (if not better) than the pointed spring cabbage.

I have Greyhound (Conical) in which should be ready by July, and Wheelers Imperial (Heritage Conical) which should be ready in the autumn.  They can both be Autumn sown for a Spring Harvest.  Therefore, when I am up and running, I will have conical cabbage for three out of the four seasons.  Must aquire some Kale to cover the lean months.
