Snap, Roy!
I was out planting some more mini-veg when I decided to check how the first crop of radishes were doing. One by one up they came...I'm not ashamed to say I didn't even wash 'em - topped and tailed, a quick wipe, and they all disappeared. Tastiest snack of the year so far. Only thing is, I've had to sew TONS more!

Mothy

Well done Roy...we had our 1st this week too....great init?

I harvested and we ate, on Wednesday 31st May, three globe artichokes, small but beautifully formed and absolutely delicious.  What other delicacies are people harvesting despite the miserable weather?

;D I think the Lettuce iceberg will be next although there is not a sign of the ball shape ??? should I wait or should I go and get it, ??? knife at the ready ;D itchy fingers ;D knife shakeing ;D big tart control yourself ::) ;D

Hot_Potato

I've also had two lots of radish plus a few baby red leaves from my mixed salad crop.....oh - what about the rhubarb - have had that several times altho its only my first proper year for that and the stems are rather spindly!...

gunnerbee

They look lovely Roy, hope you ate those leaves too!!!

moonbells

Congrats on your first crop.
Radishes were mine too. Had about 20 more last weekend but OH discarded quite a few as they appeared to have been noshed on to some extent by some kind of bug. Not sure what'll be ready nexy; a Little Gem perhaps?

Radishes - eaten
Mixed lettuce and rocket - eaten
Next up onions
After that (slugs and rabbits permitting) Little Gem

I'm getting to love this allotment lark  ;D

Love the pic Roy.  You must have really been chuckling when you were putting that together. Was it just for us or do you always eat your radishes like that?  ;D

As I type my OH is putting more wood on to this corale.  Hee ha  ;D
I came, I saw, I composted

sweet-pea

My first crop is Spinach, which I had last night in a stir-fry :-)

westsussexlottie

We have had spring onions, loose leaf lettuce, little gem so far. First strawberries are now ready! And we have a constant supply of CCA salad leaves in tubs in the garden.

Roll on spuds....

Roy - with quite a few lettuces, you can use the outer leaves while you're waiting. Keeps them out of the dirt too. Certainly, with Pablo, we're doing that.

beejay

Our first proper crop has been broad beans. Picked a bag full last weekend & picked more yesterday for freezing. Shame my daughter hates 'em. Oh yes, 2 strawberries yesterday!

David R

have been harvesting for 2/3 weeks now, radishes, spinach, mixed lettuce, cress, rocket. be bout 2 more weeks for toms & new pots. Have had loads of parsley from 2 x year old plants, lucky the cavies love it otherwise i'd have been over run by the stuff!!!

Lady of the Land

Have had new potatoes from buckets over the last three weeks. Radish, lettuce and spring onion. I would have had rocket had I remembered to cover it with fleece. Broad beans for last two weeks. Rhubarb and now strawberries just starting. Courgettes just starting to form so will not be long.

My son when he came down to the allotment picked mint to eat and we then pulled up a carrot which he proceded to eat with some more mint. He then found the peas, need I say more !

Georgie

Only pot/seedtray grown radishes and parsley here so far but little gem just about ready for picking this weekend.  This was my snack last Saturday.  :)
