Allotments 4 All

Once home today, I wandered around and was amazed at how things had romped on with me being away for just 3 days!  Turn your back for 5 minutes and they all run riot!!

The first picture is my echium pinnatta reaching for the sky.
Then my medlar tree, the blossoms are just breaking open.
Then there are some great aquilegias, all self sown, crossing crazy!  And my woodland patch is all aqui's at the moment.  Will have to do a cull tomorrow!
Chilean Glory Vine creeping like mad!  Can yank this out by the fistfull and it grows faster and faster!!
Then finally, one of my little pomegranite trees.  Very hardy, just springing into growth.

What a lot of lovely plants E-J. You must have a fairly good sized garden. The best I can get in mine is 1 ash tree in the front and a few shrubs although I have lots of perennials in my borders. I have a new aquilegia flowered this year "Black Barlow" Tis quite like your blue one only very dark.

Lovely pics EJ :)  I too have a pomegranite.  Does yours flower on a regular basis.  Mine seems to have good and bad years.  Do you feed it at all.  I am amazed at  how hardy they are.  Mine is left out all winter in its pot and comes back to life each year.

Eric, it was looking around your delicious garden that made me spend all afternoon today trying to beat mine back under control!  I love the lushness of it, but then suddenly things are being swamped, or going to seed, or squeezing other things out.

The echiums are now a good couple of feet above my greenhouse....so whatever the average height of a greenhouse is, and a bit!  They are smothered in purple papery flowers which the bees are having a field day with.

My pomegranites are only a couple of years old Pat, and never flowered yet.  So yours is in a pot also?  I shall give mine a feed and a bit more tlc this year and see what happens.  Have you ever had any fruit develop??

Greenwizard, I will happily save you some seeds from the glory vine.  It is rampant and would take over my fence, bamboo and neighbouring hibiscus if I didn't wrip lumps out of it!

No fruit on  the the pom yet Emma but one year had masses of bright orange paper-like flowers - well.....I say no fruit, but sometimes there is a slight little lump after the flower has faded which I have presumed is the beginning of a fruit, but assumed that in this country and climate it would probably not come to anything :-\  I must admit I can't recall ever feeding it. Naughty I know, but it has just been left to it's own devices.  I usually feed all my plants with a weak solution of tomato feed (AT tip some time ago).  Will post a pic this year if it does anything worth looking at ;) :D
